I remember watching this premiere on Fox.
For those not around back then, it is hard to describe the level of stardom he had. And I don’t think anyone has ever come close again. Not only did Michael Jackson premiere a music video on network television, but at the time it became the most watched thing ever on that network.
Yeah, they were megastars back in the day with Madonna.
She was the first one I thought of that had similar stardom at the same time, they were the king and queen of pop music for that era. Being younger at the time I remember wondering with those titles why didn’t they date? Heh.
We had a home recording of it on VHS. I remember there being more to it, like a transformation into a big cat and wrecking a car or something.
Yes there was, but parents got all angry when he was grabbing his crotch so much with their children watching, so it was cut from many re-airings
Oh yeah I vaguely remember the crotch grabbing. I had no idea there was such a controversy, but I’m not surprised. It was the 90s.
Absolutely epic song and video. The faces morphing into one another at the end blew my mind, I’d never seen anything like it before
Yep that was the first time they were using morphing, it was quite impressive at the time.
