I didn’t think he was the reason the offense didn’t do anything. The Patriots were extremely aggressive against the run on early downs because they knew for sure that’s what was going to happen. On passing downs there was frequently nowhere to go with the ball. On most man coverage snaps Gonzalez had Garrett blanketed, and when they played zone they took good advantage of the situations to make windows consistently small.
Taking care of the ball might have made it the best showing against a Belichick defense he’s shown so far. If developing him was your fallback plan going into the year, I don’t think he’s given you a reason to change it. Especially for a guy who also can’t make decisions, but also can’t throw, in Siemian.
Semen isn’t it either. He’s just the backup.
Yeah he could be an improvement over Wilson (mostly because that bar is somewhere beneath the earth’s crust), but I don’t get why they won’t pull the trigger and make a move for someone.
Who’s available? They are probably calling but realistically who could they get as a 1 year rental without selling the farm?
They should be able to get pretty much any backup with a trade. They’ll get fleeced but trading a couple 4ths or a 2nd isn’t going to kill the team long term and they could legitimately make the Super Bowl with a below average QB (as opposed to dogshit) and some luck.
So many teams think they can fix their offensive line problems with a new QB. No idea if Wilson is the answer or not, you can’t tell behind that line.
Last year the Panthers rolled though four different QBs behind an offensive line that barely gave them 1.8 sec in the pocket. Yet, everybody thinks a different QB will solve the problem.
The Panthers solution was to trade away their QBs, Christian McCaffrey and their best WR just to sign a rookie QB and Andy Dalton. No o line improvements.
You can absolutely tell Wilson is A problem even if not THE problem
