The Conservative leader has called on Trudeau to “come clean” about the evidence behind the allegation against India, saying Canadians deserve more facts.

Singh said Tuesday he does not support that call.

“They’re matters of national security and so information cannot be released beyond the general statements that were released,” he said.

Oh look, Poilievre’s taking childish populist shots while Singh is acting like a grown-up. What a surprise.

Pierre is that “I dont want solutions I want to be mad” meme incarnate.

The guy was invited to see the evidence and won’t go. What a joke.

When he talks policies he tanks because people realize he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

When he talks common sense people get to fill in the blanks with whatever they want and when he criticizes Trudeau his base loves it.

I’m looking forward to the debates but I think he’s going to skip them to circle jerk with Jordan Peterson and Joe Rogan.

I don’t think it’s even that. Policies his base would support are noxious to everyone else. Having no substance is the main path to power that sidesteps that, and then he can just do what he wants until next election.

That’s the modern Conservative Party of Canada. There’s a fundamental split you get to see played out every time a new leader is elected. I’m reminded of the vote for the ban on conversion therapy (the Conservatives were the only party that was divided), O’Toole’s attempt to address climate change in the CPC policy convention, and of course Joe Clark’s admonitions back at the merger of the PCs and the Reform Party.

They interviewed the former head of CSIS and he said the same thing. Can’t reveal your sources because it puts it at risk.

Poilievre has so far rejected getting the clearance needed

Of course he’s gonna complain about it instead of getting his clearance to review the material and make a well-informed complaint about it.

Poilievre needs to grow up put on pants and be a man. How the F are you expected to exercise judgement as a leader without getting proper security clearance? Are you hiding something?

Really. He’s supposed to be the leader of the Loyal Opposition. If he’s not privy to intelligence he can’t really understand what’s in the national interest. So he doesn’t know when it’s time to be loyal and when it’s time to be in opposition.

Yeah he’s not coming across as someone ready for the responsibility of being prime minister.

He did the same thing with the China scandal, refused to get briefed and then complained he wasn’t briefed.

With the China thing he showed incompetence even at Trudeau hating. Had this big scandal dropped in his lap, then got distracted by some changes to passport pages. Who even noticed there were watermarked images in our passports, much less cared that they were being changed?

The guy is just an idiot all around.

No no! See it’s all Justin! Just-insecurity!

Also, no comment on abortion, LGBT+ rights, indigenous affairs…

Did I wink? No I don’t recall that. I just need to go hang out with these very fine people over here protesting at hospitals and schools.

But seriously, PP isn’t really selling policy per se. He mostly just seems to be jumping on the F∆ck Trudeau bandwagon.

I’m sure he’s got some policy platforms, but it’s certainly not his main talking points.

Last I checked, his main platform points are the same old rich-get-richer conservative talking points sold as “more money in your pockets dear cocitizens” with a new layer of MAGA-lite coat of paint.

            That’s my impression as well.

Housing? Give tax breaks to real estate developers so we can have more landlords! Not that I’m adverse to supply side solutions, any port in a storm and all that, but how’s that greenbelt deal going for Ford? Likewise, it seems to be classic neo-con, with lots of inaction on climate.

The biggest thing seems to be trying to avoid ending up like O’Toole, and just not make any solid statements towards any issue and instead just point at Trudeau and whine.

He’s certainly leaving into the whole “vibes” thing. I guess it’s kind of working.

He was an MP for many years, with Rick Mercer mocking him for getting a MP pension at age 31. How can he not get security clearance by now? Something doesn’t pass the smell test.

It has a goal of infecting global politics with far right rhetoric.

Top-Secret security clearances should be mandatory for all party leaders and deputy leaders.

    Pierre Poilievre is a coward.

What I don’t understand is even if this “clear intelligence” is 100% confirmed and not Canada’s low key version of “weapons of mass destruction,” why is this playing out over public channels like a reality TV show? With diplomatic norms in mind, I would expect this is the kind of thing that should be discussed behind closed doors only (not leaving out families involved) until/unless proven in the courts.

Is there some reason I’m not thinking of that tensions should be stoked even if there is still a chance they can be averted? Normally this kind of info would only be revealed if there was a case being made for a certain plan of action, but it’s pointed out in the article that the investigation is underway. What is the goal of disseminating this?

Quote of the US Ambassador, from the article:

He said he does not generally comment on “private diplomatic conversations,” but added: “There was a lot of communication between Canada and the United States about this, and I think that’s as far as I’m comfortable going.”

While details are classified, this just sounds like gossip. :/

It’s already been heavily reported that Canadian officials did bring this up with Indian officials behind closed doors. India refused to assist in any way. So now the government is going public because a) Canadians deserve to know what’s going on and that they’re defending our sovereignty, and b) to create pressure on the Indian government.

      This isn’t that mysterious.

I appreciate your response. I’d already considered those reports so I can see this is just something I’ll have to be in the minority on. To me, it’s similar to how (as a parallel) news channels have for decades reported specific crime incidents in a more entertainment-focused fashion that doesn’t help anyone, and just seems to be about titillating people who are into true crime instead of talking about overall statistical trends, expectations, &/or possible policy adjustments.

What do we, as Canadians, do with this knowledge? How does it help us or make us safer? What do Indian Canadians, travellers, and people who do business with India do with this info? Just feels like we’re jumping the gun with our collective national sentiments of late, and it reminds me a lot of certain volatile eras of past history.

When US says they have intel, why the fuck you even question it? Your android, apple devices data is with the US government. India, get your act together and go to jail.

How to put India behind bars? 🤔
