I found myself logged out and Lemmy. I tried to connect to my account and it didn’t work so instead I have decided to send myself a lost password email but nothing came through. I then realized I was on lemmy.nl and not on lemmy.world

What is the difference ?! Thanks

Lemmy.world is run by Mastodon, while lemmy.ml is run by unapologetic socialists/communists.

One doesn’t really have a political focus while the other one has at least officially associated itself with such beliefs.

Thanks to the federated nature of lemmy, if you don’t like the way an instance is run you are free to go to another instance. If you want to be in an instance that will align with your beliefs, then you have that option as well. Isn’t it wonderful?

Description here is fine but I feel I learned more about you and your politics than I did about the fediverse lol

      Lemmy.world is run by Mastodon

The admin(s) of lemmy.world also run mastodon.world (and calckey.world). Just as there are multiple lemmy servers, there are multiple Mastodon servers.

What do communists and socialists have to apologize for? To be clear I know what you are hamfistedly referring to. But it isn’t “communists” or “socialists”.

One doesn’t really have a political focus while the other one has at least officially associated itself with such beliefs.

In my experience the admins of lemmy.world are much more aggressive in pushing their politics on their users. I left lemmy.world after they did this: https://lemmy.world/post/2498330

Also lemmy.world usually has trouble staying functional. Leaving it had other perks. For example, the link above wasn’t working as I was posting this, so here is the feddit.de cache of it: https://feddit.de/post/2073607?scrollToComments=true
