Maybe that will happen, but I feel like Sony has stronger studios in its portfolio. And I say that as someone that bought an Xbox Series console and Game Pass.

Microsoft has been bad luck Brian over the past 2 years. Their acquisitions have pushed out a lot of meh games. The good exclusives haven’t been there, and the cross platform games that are made by MS just aren’t good enough to really make GamePass feel amazing.

Microsoft has been amazing about buying big names that have some real stinkers loaded in the shoot.

I don’t think they had “bad luck”. I think it comes from their flawed assumption that :meh developers + lots of money + lots of time = great games.

And I know some of the studios they bought like Bethesda or Arcane were great in the past but they got corrupted by greed under their former publisher and I think Microsoft hasn’t yet weeded out those suits.

Also removing any “consequences” for failing is terrible. Like the people high up involved in letting redfall past QA should get degraded for example

Media and tech giants whining about losses is music to my ears, regardless of which ones.

Sorry, I have no sympathy for multi-billion dollar organizations.

I’m not a fan of the $2.8tn behemoth that is Microsoft just buying up everything either, but I don’t think Sony has much to worry about.

What is MS actually doing with all that money and all that IP and development manpower? Almost everything that’s come out of them this gen, bluntly, has been subpar. There’s a few bright spots but it’s the exception not the rule.

The Xbox FTC leaks showed Xbox is struggling to make a financial case for themselves within MS and the only way they can remain competitive is to keep buying people out. Eventually regulators will surely step in and say absolutely not - I mean Phil Spencer said he wanted to buy Nintendo and Valve via a hostile takeover ffs, that simply isn’t going to be allowed by regulators.

Sony more often than not releases good games, duds are few and far between. Their console is cheaper to manufacture, devs like it more, and they’re selling more of them by a long shot.

Sony will be fine. This is just posturing for regulators to try to get them to forbid more big MS takeovers.

Yeah, those whole 10 people in the “Metaverse” right now are really making Meta’s business purpose for VR happen.

I really wish it were the case. The quest is easily outselling PSVR. Mostly because some models don’t even need a PC to work.

5 million according to Sony vs 20 million sold by Meta.
