We grew corn when I was a kid, first time growing it myself. Impluse bought a few stalks to throw into the garden bed, and now this corn is bringing me a lot of joy. Grow corn, Grow!

Not much. This is a small bed that I usually grow pumpkins/peas/tomatoes in (and cali poppies) depending on the year.
Each spring spread it with cow compost before anything pops up or is planted. All my veggies, I simply feed fish ferilizer about every two to three weeks depending, usually like to just before a rain. Thats it. Water them a bit each day there’s no rain. I also cultivate clover around this garden bed, the soil in my yard is dog shit, and ive been trying to fix it (with some success) the last 4 years or so. I cover all my garden beds with leaves for the winter (zone 6b), and in spring, add the manure on top of the leaves before planting.
I just looked for the tag, I thought I saved it guess not, but, this corn is some kinda multi colored heirloom variety if that could make a difference? I only planted four of em, bought the starts from a local spot that had em on sale, so I didnt fuck with seeds
thats actually a lot. ok makes sense.
I think it’s only a lot because Ive had to repair the soil.
When it comes to amount of work, it doesnt feel like a lot
