I never cared for his music and don’t really think he’s actively bad. Just boring mainstream pop meh.

However, I’m glad that this entire situation has given a whole lot of media attention to the fucked up situation in Gaza and even a glimpse at how some people are trying to silence any criticism of Israel.

“I’ve never wanted to be an activist musician,”

I guess his concert for Ukraine doesn’t count as activism? Give me a break. This piss-poor attempt at damage control is disgusting.

Knows he fucked up is all. Fact is is that now it’s not about his opinion of Gaza, that’s irrelevant now. (His opinion, not the issue).

The problem is now we all know he is a coward and backed down to pressure from the billionaire class, and completely screwed over his friends in the process.

I’ve seen nothing in his ‘apology’ that shows he actually learned anything other than that people are mad at him. He is still doing the both sides thing. He didn’t call out Israel or the ongoing genocide. He just wants people to go back to paying for his concerts and music.

He sided with people who are pro-genocide. He hasn’t shown that he actually cares about that issue. It sounds like he was actively and intentionally avoiding saying the word genocide.

“The Gaza Situation Is Crazy”— Ed Sheeran.

Bro should disappear for a minute to reflect and regroup. No point trying to save this if he doesn’t even know where he stands. “Both-siding” bullshit isn’t gonna get him anywhere.

It’s one thing to say “The Gaza Situation is crazy!”

It’s another to say, “Palestine should be free!”

It’s yet another to say “Zionism is killing people!”

It’s a whole other thing to say “Israel is committing war crimes!”

Just admit fault and say you’ve received an outpouring of messages that made you realize what a huge mistake you’ve been making and pay your shitty little PR people to dump money at Palestine. People would’ve shrugged and move on.

Imagine you’re a musician and you don’t know any more about international politics than anyone else. Which is normally fine, you’re just there to play music, who cares what your stance is on some controversial issue that has nothing to do with music?

Then a hate group creates a scenario where you’re required to “take a side” on a complex issue. What do you do?

If you have the money Ed Sheeran has ,you hire some people to write up a statement to address the issue in the hopes you can go back to playing music which is what you want to do.

Of course your statement will never be enough to satisfy the hate group. The whole point of a hate group is to hate people, and once you’re a target of that hate group you will always be a target.

How does hating Ed Sheeran help Palestinians? It doesn’t. That doesn’t matter because helping Palestinians isn’t the goal of the “Free Palestine” movement anymore. The point of the “Free Palestine” movement is to express hatred towards anyone the group targets. It’s a fascist hate movement and a movements like these need to occasionally demonstrate their power so those that are a part of it can feel powerful themselves.

Took what 3 days or something? Fucking moron. You’re toast now.

This is the attitude of someone who feels confident that their movement is strong and can destroy the people it targets. Don’t you feel strong and powerful because you’re part of a movement that will move in lock step when targeting individuals? This is the nature of fascism.

Freedom of expression is not a complex issue. If you’re the top dog on a tour and some promoter kicks one of the acts out for just expressing an opinion on stage… It seems simple enough to stand up for your colleagues.

Your fascist hate group is a total fabrication. Sheeran is not a victim of anything, he just chose to side with the rich and powerful over his music “friends”, which will never get you any sympathy points from the general public.

        hate group

The point of the “Free Palestine” movement is to express hatred towards anyone the group targets.

I imagine what being this stupid would have to entail, but it is difficult.

How come you didn’t mention Macklemore at all on this? Ed Sheeran sort of made himself the target by not standing up for his friend. What did his friend even do? He said “Free Palestine” in addition to other large scale conflicts going on. Free Cuba. Free Congo. Free Sudan.

You don’t mention this because you are either a moron or a Zionist. Take your pick, not exclusive.

I mean, Ed Sheeran wants money, and he chose money over morals or his friend. That’s all there is to it. There is this mythical apolitical stance that people think you can take, but that isn’t true. Nothing is apolitical because “being apolitical” is an acceptance of the status quo, an inherently political take. He chose the billionaire pedophile Zionist over his friend. Idk, seems like the wrong choice to me, but I have a heart.

It’s a fascist hate movement and a movements like these need to occasionally demonstrate their power so those that are a part of it can feel powerful themselves.

Goddamn, the projection of watching a Zionist pedophile billionaire use his power to remove Macklemore from the tour for even mentioning Palestine must be so upsetting that your fucking dumbass has to construct villains from the ether. That is such loser behavior that I hope your mother takes away your computer privileges until you talk to a real human being.

You really don’t have much going on other than looking for people to target with your hatred.

You go on the internet, get your daily two minutes of hate. Today you’re being told to hate Ed Sheeran, so you hate Ed Sheeran.

Tomorrow it will be somebody else.

You’ve been conditioned to believe that hatred is cool as long as you can spell the word “genocide”.

How did you get to ‘Free Palistine is Fascist’ exactly? How is being against the wholesale slaughter of civilians and the indiscriminate bombing of entire cities during Israel’s explicitly illegal occupation of Palestine pro-Fascism?

Fascism is the binding together of state and corporate powers to promote the interests of the mythical “deserving” people while expelling the “undeserving” underclass. I’m not sure you can coherently sympathize with the interests of an extremely wealthy ethnostate while they commit a genocide using the most advanced weapons systems the world has ever seen and talk about the evils of Fascism…

I’m looking at the actions of the group, instead of all of the moralizing you do with each other. The use of intimidation and harassment campaigns are the tactics of a fascist movement.

We’re currently in a community that’s supposed to be dedicated to Music. What does the music of Ed Sheeran have to do with the plight of Palestinians? If fewer people go to his concerts and buy his albums, how does that improve anything for Palestinians?

The point of this movement is not about improving anything for Palestinians. The harassment and intimidation is the point. You just mindlessly rattle off some words about “capitalist ethnostate genocide” to make the harassment and intimidation sound vaguely moral, but none of that has anything to do with music or Ed Sheeran.

You’re obviously just roaming around the internet looking for people to intimidate to make yourselves feel strong. The goal is to make people afraid of your movement. That is the emotional core of all fascist movements.

Do you think you’re the only fascist movement that can spell the word “genocide”?

            Harassment campaigns? Intimidation?

Those aren’t accurate when you’re talking about people being oppressed and abused. It’s not harassment it’s standing up for.

It’s like seeing someone being attacked, standing up for them and when you hurt the attacker people are calling YOU the attacker. It’s nonsense and illogical

What does the music of Ed Sheeran have to do with the plight of Palestinians? > Sheeran kicked someone off his tour for saying the forbidden two words because a billionaire told him to.

The point of this movement is not about improving anything for Palestinians. > Macklemore donated $1M to Palestinian charities and encouraged others to join him in doing the same.

You just mindlessly rattle off some words about “capitalist ethnostate genocide” to make the harassment and intimidation sound vaguely moral… > I gave you a precise definition of Fascism. I did not mindlessly rattle anything off. However, you seem to be using the term Fascism based on vibes…

The goal is to make people afraid of your movement. > The goal is to end Israel’s genocide in Gaza by challenging their “righteous hero” narrative and ending the uncritical support it gets from Western governments and corporations.

That is the emotional core of all fascist movements. > Fascism isn’t a feeling. It has a definition. The actual, literal core of Fascism is the binding together of state and corporate forces to keep power in the hands of the “deserving”. What you are describing is not even remotely Fascist…

I’m not sure if you’re a troll or genuinely believe what you’re saying. But if you do really care about Fascism, by telling people to shutup, stay in their lane, and keep it about the music, you are being a mouthpiece for the neo-Fascist status quo. Nothing is apolitical during a genocide.

As someone on the internet writing to someone else on the internet, I ask you, if you genuinely care about Fascism, to really think about the words you’re using. Are they really definitionally accurate? Or do they just feel accurate?

However, if you are just being a troll, I thank you for the platform and the facile arguments.

I know what fascism means, but I’m pretty sure you don’t.

It’s when a movement has no real ideology and is about gaining power through deception, manipulation, and intimidation. The emotional pressure points are usually about racism, paranoia, xenophobia, and nostalgia for past golden age (which likely never existed).

You’ve gone for the classic paranoia over Jews thing, pretty on the nose if you ask me. You likely have some weird nostalgia over the Soviet Union, which likely never existed in your lifetime, and you’ve likely never even met anyone that lived in that country. But you likely have been made to believe it was a past golden age.

You probably believe countries are somehow being manipulated by the Jews, that’s the paranoia and xenophobia kicking in. You hate global order.

You likely latch on to the words of demagogues like Hasan Piker.

There’s no real ideology in your movement. There’s words about socialism spoken by millionaires that are promoted by billionaires. But deception and lies are a big part of fascism. You might support theocratic and fascist regimes elsewhere in the world, like Iran, or Hamas. You might even support Russia a fascist state.

Even if you don’t personally believe these things, a lot of people in your movement do. Your movement engages targeted harrassment and intimidation campaigns, so you know what will happen to you if you step out of line.

Let me ask you this, if your movement tells you to vote Republican, would you do it? What if Tucker Carlson was running and promised to “stop the genocide”? Would you align with those people if the rest of your peer group went in that direction?

I agree that focusing on the culture war stuff to the detriment of material support of Palestinians is not the best use of your time (like what we’re doing here, so I’ll try to keep this short), but we’re talking about a multimillion dollar brand not an individual.

The dude can believe whatever he wants, but when he starts enacting policy on employees, he’s no longer just holding an opinion. He’s enforcing a narrative in exchange for cash money.

Also there’s ur-fascism everywhere and we’ve for to keep our eyes peeled, but there’s also an active genocide lead by a fascist colonial project of eradication going on right now, so maybe calling the people who get angry at celebrity brands online “fascist” is kind of small potatoes, wouldn’t you agree?

extortion is leverage one person has over another.

what has happened here is social peer pressure. it happens when one person expresses an opinion or idea that counters public opinion.

So you think fascists don’t use social pressure as a tool?

So there’s no one in MAGA that goes along with whatever the people in their Church group is saying? You think Trump got abortion banned for personal religious reasons?

Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but a fascist movement depends on social pressure. MAGA has an alliance with Christian groups so they can apply that pressure. Trump is the most unchristian president in my lifetime, but Christians look the other way on his many many many sins because they are pressured to do so.

Leftists have a similar relationship going on. Iran is a theocratic authoritarian state, but you have to go along with whatever propaganda the throw your way because of social pressure. So much for religion being the opiate of the masses when Marxists are supporting religious theocracy. You may claim you have an ideology, but really it’s all about going along to get along.

And this makes you susceptible to propaganda. You may not actually care about Ed Sheeran or what he thinks about geopolitics. But you’re required to act like you care and post comments about Ed Sheeran being a terrible guy because of that social pressure.

Fascism can’t function without making people feel like they are alone and having no choice but to conform to the social pressures. That is the goal of your movement isn’t it? You have to label me as a troll, some have even tagged me with the star of David (yeah that’s not a fascist thing at all, LOL) because your little movement doesn’t hold up against dissenting opinions. And that’s what I’m doing isn’t it? Telling people that’s ok to have a different opinion, it’s ok to think it’s really shitty to be harrassing a musician for being apolitical.

Right now your movement is engaged in a harassment campaign against someone that makes pretty innocent music. That’s the dumbest thing ever, doesn’t help any Palestinians at all, it’s obviously just about making your hate group feel like they’re strong. And it’s dumb as fuck. But as we can see with Trump, even dumb people can be dangerous.

I’m against fascism while you’re just choosing a different flavour of fascism.

The argument is that “we can’t be fascist because we use hammers.” Then you admit that fascists also use hammers and now that indicates you can’t be fascist?

You’re all about using violence and intimidation for political power. Whether you call it fascist or not, you’re using the same tactics as fascists and do you have any real goals? Nope, cruelty towards others is the point of your movement. Being capable of spelling the word “genocide” doesn’t change the nature of your actions.

Yes, and we may need to have it again because you’re struggling to comprehend that your movement is dedicated to using intimidation regardless of whether it helps Palestinians. Again, please explain to me how harassing an apolitical musicians helps Palestinians.

You won’t go after the Kraft guy, because it would inconvenience you too much to boycott Kraft products. So instead you go after Sheeran because it’s easier. It’s obvious your goal isn’t change, you just want to bully people.

God damn, you love making assumptions. Tell me more about the things you know for a fact I am buying. What’s in my fridge?

Also, the core of your argument revolves around the idea that there is no ethical way to organize people in an attempt to enact systemic change. You are framing that any kind of unwanted opposition to anything is fascism/authoritarian, which is itself an argument for fascism/authoritarianism. That’s fucking stupid.

So, are tou pro authoritarianism/fascism? What the fuck is even your point other than stirring shit?

Hey, quick question, do you think billionaire pedophile Robert Kraft used extortion tactics to remove Macklemore from playing in stadiums? Do you think that makes Epstein associate Robert Kraft a fascist? Just a quick yes or no on whether Robert Kraft, who was caught soliciting prostitution from human traffickers, is a fascist, thanks.

Yeah sure Robert Kraft is a shitty person. Whatever.

But this is tactic your whole movement is based on isn’t it? Believing your shitty actions are justified so long as you can point out something else that’s shitty.

The existence of shitty people in the world does not absolve you of your shitty actions. Robert Kraft is responsible for his actions and you are responsible for your actions.

You are responsible for what you do, and you’re currently in a harassment campaign against someone that wants to be apolitical and just play music.

Your goal should be to be a better person that the people you think are evil, not justify your evil acts with their evil acts. I’m sure Robert Kraft is doing what he’s doing because he believes he’s in the right. So are you the same as him? Do you think it’s fine to do shitty things as long as you can say “because these other guys are bad too”?

Damn, I didn’t realize that I stopped Ed Sheeran from playing music, touring, talking, or being able to release shitty explanations on why he tacitly supports genocide. That’s my bad, guys. I guess I did that with my fucking pedophile billionaire money.

God-fucking-damn, you seem so desperate to put me on the same level as a real fascist, and you look so fucking pathetic that it is laughable to everyone here. “People telling Ed Sheeran to not tacitly endorse genocide is fascism” is loser baby shit.

At least try to fake a definition for genocide, this trolling doesn’t even give you pity points when people look mean because you act like your mommy should slap the sense into you.

Harrassment and intimidation is the point. You won’t target the Kraft guy because that would require real effort. The point is to target people like Ed Sheeran because he’s smaller that the Kraft dude.

You’re the Karen screaming at the cashier instead of just taking your business elsewhere. You just want to get attention. Quietly boycotting Kraft isn’t attention grabbing, so you won’t do that.

This is bully behaviour. You’re not trying to change anything you just attack targets for the sake of your emotions.

Apparently today you’re going after Pink for some reason, huh? Damn I haven’t heard of Pink in quite a long time. Who’s next on the list? Hootie and the Blowfish? LOL

What a joke of a “movement”.

Yeah, so you spend all day harassing various b-list pop-stars and pretending that you’re making the world a better place.

But sure, that’s not at all the actions of pitiful losers.
