Why couldn’t Pornhub use the “it’s too big” excuse when it came to moderating amateur photos and videos? They were forced to get rid of amateur uploads altogether because finding and removing illegal content in a matter of hours wasn’t “good enough” for a group of about 100 activists. Where’s that kind of outrage now?
Nowhere, because all that outrage was manufactured by Collective Shout, a Christian extremist organization funded by far alt-right extremist billionaire baby-eating pedophiles. Since Zuck is in their club, he’s not targeted by them.
Here’s a completely separate thought (and definitely not a call to action), totally unrelated to the idea above:
I wonder what about 100 very dedicated, very vocal, very persistent people who are all united by the goal of generating the same outrage against Meta for the exact same reasons could accomplish, especially if they put pressure on Visa and other payment processers like Collective Shout did.
Nothing. Because Meta generates enormous amount of money for Visa & everyone involved. So they, obviously, won’t give a single flying fuck about “some babies” (or kids in general — yes this is a stone towards all this “protect the kids” authoritarian bullshit flying around).
The mainstream social media is absolutely deranged. If you can’t moderate you platform you shouldnt have one. “Its to big” is not an excuse. Oh it’s to big ok break it up into smaller bases and create new companies to run it.
We would never accept a fedi instance doing this shit and giving the excuse that its to big to moderate. Ok you can’t moderate then close your sign ups.
at least with the Fediverse there are options that explicitly allow this content.
