She said the book offers audiences a richer understanding of the experiences and perspectives of transgender people. Horak hopes first-time readers find her book both fun and accessible during a time when transgender rights are being threatened.

“It’s really important for everyone, whether you have someone trans in your life or not, to learn more about trans people’s struggles for their human rights,” Horak said.
