Wow, it actually works really well from my point of view. I wonder what it sounds like to a native English speaker.

I recently realised that David Bowie’s “Jean Genie” is essentially the same concept. In both cases you have someone who’s not American speaking/singing in a bluesy southern-American diction, the content being asemic but the impression being one of a casual insider cool, like some hepcat dishing the dirt on what’s going down.
