I may be just small potatoes, but my refusal to take onsite work in the US since the orange menace took office again has meant that 3 people who used to spend ~40% of their time in US hotels, eating at US restaurants, and paying US transportation costs, are now staying in Canada or picking up the pace with EU clients.

For anyone else navigating all the misinfo around doing this on a ford truck:

Set the ignition to ON.

Press and hold the accelerator pedal and place the electronic parking brake (EPB) switch in the APPLY (upward) position. Continue to hold the accelerator pedal and the electronic parking brake EPB switch.

Firmly press the brake pedal for at least 1 second. Release the brake pedal while continuing to hold the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.

Set the ignition to OFF then set the ignition to ON within 5 seconds, then release the accelerator pedal and the EPB switch.

I think you’ve nailed it when you mentioned the bit about removing personality. I get this feeling a lot from folks who complain about florid language or even just about writing style in general. When you ask them to make it a better piece, it seems fairly common to get back something that’s without any of that messy human stuff like personality. and that’s fine, but that type of writing exists and not all writing needs to be like that.

As for people not wanting to talk about VA. I have no opinion on that. I only have a few friends in VA and none of them are the type to tell me how they feel about a local election.

The majority of that province is hateful morons being super proud of themselves. I lived there for 20 years, my wife for all of her life. So don’t go saying I am just following the herd. The facts are simply that outside of calgary and edmonton the vast majority of albertans are insular xenophobes.

Are you seeing a ton of small towns in any other province where the town meetings are full of assholes bleating about wanting to join the US? Because I can tell you right now the acme, beiseker, trochu, three hills, irricana, and carbon, town meetings are FULL of these fucking people.
