Only pedophiles defend pedophiles.
And I fucking HATE pedophiles.

Woody Allen is still a pedophile who raped one of his own young step-daughters and married another.

People who defend that shit are SICK.

  • Put like at least 5 of them in a bag that is appropriately sized and appropriately priced and I’m all over this shit.

There are TWO of us now!

But yeah, I do love some good jerky. I used to make it, it’s fun to do as long as you carefully adhere to food safety rules. Anymore it’s a very limited thing for me for health reasons but a well-made bit of jerky is an awesome thing.

I haven’t tried this bacon yet, but if it’s a bacon/brown sugar thing I likely will, the sum being greater than the parts. But the bacon premise is iffy, depending on whether they are cooking this and/or how much fat they’re leaving on it, because you’re eating it room temp. Room temp bacon grease, while still delicious in flavor, is still just a lump of grainy lukewarm grease in the mouth if there’s too much of it.

Could be great, could be ass. I guess we’ll see.

Admin approval with some text that needs a little bit of thought to fill out is surprisingly effective and definitely slows down spammers a lot.

I had to do that on dbzer0 and I think beehaw, they were both a fun exercise and took no time at all. Hell, I ended up submitting a wall of text about Sacco and Vanzetti on dbzer0 if I remember correctly, lol. But if nothing else they knew that it was 1) a human, and 2) I really believe what I was saying.

If the point is to get regular users who are thoughtful participants in online communities, requiring an email address and the typing of a few coherent words on their own behalf is NOT a barrier to entry, or even a much of a bar. After all, these people are applying to join a forum in which they are presumably going to spend unlimited time typing statements of their own creation in the future. Instance owners are just requiring a bit of that up front, and it’s not a huge ask.

It is, however, a very frustrating requirement for people who want to open multiple accounts for spamming and trolling purposes, and for that reason alone is a great filter for applicants.

  • The big downside is making payments on sites with silly amounts of 3rd parties involved

As a user of NoScript for many years, the easiest way to deal with this for me is to do my payments from a second browser. I have found LibreWolf to be really good as far as not blocking what it takes to do such a transaction but still blocking everything else very well.

I don’t like to use NoScript under purchasing/payment circumstances; multiple sites are often involved in payment processing and it’s too easy to break what I didn’t know was there under my usually very strict rules.

Sure, I could just turn off NoScript for a site I want to do a financial transaction on, but instead of dicking around with it anymore I just use a different browser because the upsides are so good.

Like online shopping: I shop on one browser, and login and pay on another, which also allows me to strip any unwanted affiliate links and tracking information from the URL when I do purchase something. I also get to see price differences between anonymous and logged in users, which is another game online retailers like to pay: logged off there is a low bait price, and logged in switches you to a higher price (Amazon does this by changing the recommended seller of an item; I just log in on the second browser and change it back, lol).

Any different browser with NoScript turned off and secondary blocking (uBlockOrigin, uMatrix, etc) enabled will serve the purpose, if you’re not interested in a puzzle one day.
