DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•Map Apps for GrapheneOSEnglish
3·2 days agoDid you contribute to OSM to make the maps better for you and everyone else?
My area had nothing a couple of years ago. But I started contributing every week or so and it’s filled out nicely, and some other people started doing the same. It’s more accurate than Google Maps in my area now.

World News@lemmy.world•Europe is moving to block Microsoft, Amazon, and Google from handling government health, financial, and legal dataEnglish
3·7 days agoIt seems like it’ll be included, it’s affecting all services storing government and healthcare data. Of course, it doesn’t affect private companies so Salesforce will still probably be used elsewhere. Just not in government. The same can be said about other SaaS companies like Cloudflare, Atlassian, and ServiceNow.

46·8 days agoI’d argue that the students know this, and is part of the reason they’re booing. LLMs have given execs the excuse they needed to cut headcount which has caused the job market toxicity. Of course, LLMs are not ready to replace almost anyone except for those executives.

12·11 days agoThey just want to be right, that’s all it comes down to. They do this a lot around here, they simply refuse to consider anything but their own opinion, so when someone challenges that, they lose their mind and thus their reading comprehension. They also love to twist your words to make it seem like you’re the one that doesn’t understand (as they’ve done to several people, including myself, in this thread).

33·11 days agoHoly, I get that things are bleak to say the least, however the GOP is doing this because they’re looking at heavy losses across the board, not just in VA. I think you’re missing the whole picture to be honest. Plus, gerrymandering can backfire as you’re diluting the voting pool. I understand dooming and all, but I think it’s too soon to say that the Dems will certainly lose the house.
That’s not to say this isn’t a bad thing, but it also could backfire and cause higher turnout.
