US is an accomplice, so of course they can’t admit to Israel violating international law.

Our chance was during the primaries, and we fucking choked.
What are they gonna do vote for trump?
They might choose to sit it out, abstain. This election is not a sure thing for Biden, and the polls are pretty clear that Biden needs to stop supporting Israel like yesterday. Hilary had hubris in 2016, and so too does Biden seem to have hubris right now.
War crimes and genocide. They are a terrorist state.
Getting called out for it was unintentional.
I went with a media center PC and haven’t looked back.
Will using the browser version with the usual array of ad-blocks help?
One of the interesting features about Matrix is that it supports some degree of interoperability. The Beeper phone app, for all the fuss about its ill-fated attempts to bridge to iMessage, can connect to Discord for basic no-frills text chat.
I refuse to install Discord on my phone but use Beeper for DMs and group texting.
I am a big fan of Matrix and glad to see it getting some attention in this post. But it is definitely a bit rougher around the edges and esoteric compared to Discord. For more technically-inclined people, it’s fine. But it’s a bit much for some people.
I’m no fan of Apple (and don’t want to divert discussion here), but part of their winning formula is ease of use.
I frequently use Jitsi w/screensharing. Been using it for quite a while this way with good results.
A lot of big state university towns that are not part of major metros probably fit this. They are going to have a lot of amenities due to the university.
Mid-sized stand-alone city. Think 50-200K people.
If I explicitly have to choose between big city or small town, then it comes down to employment options. If that is a non-factor (e.g. remote work) then small town.
For those saying culture or whatever, I’m ok with commuting to a big city once a month or whatever for that stuff. I don’t need cultural attractions for my day-to-day life.
An obvious chipping away at old reddit. They are trying to get rid of it altogether.
I consider their new format to be unusable.
Full disclosure: I do still use Reddit, simply because of how much content there is on that site. But I’m tapering off to spend more time on Lemmy. I hope to see this platform grow.
If I had to boil down my description of Reddit into one thing, it would be “passive aggressive.”
I’ve been banned from subs I’ve never even previously commented/posted to. But then I’ll make a comment and it’s been shadowbanned. It’s so prevalent that I got in the habit of logging out to check that it actually appeared. I mostly stuck to commenting and made new posts rather infrequently, but it seems like some subs no matter what I posted it would get removed for very dubious reasons. One of the worst offenders was the sub for unpopular opinions, where they would just remove anything and say “must be an unpopular opinion.”
I don’t think I’ve seen one at the top…
I’d say bottom because I’d rather not have the cord coming towards me, rather than away, when I’m using the phone. Also it seems more ergonomic for me to put my phone in my pocket with the top pointed down rather than up.
