Some data centers are necessary for modern life. They facilitate pretty much everything you do online. Some could also be used to optimize the power grid when running on renewable energies.

There is some labor out there that doesn’t really contribute to the reported GDP numbers. Water and wastewater workers don’t directly contribute to GDP numbers but do allow other people and businesses to contribute to GDP. The amount of treated water a city creates isn’t counted towards GDP.

That good feeling is a psychological reward. It is not physical. You cannot hold it, touch it, or give it to someone else for doing a job.

Sorry babe, i can’t vacuum the house cause I’m vegan.

For me its mostly the cost to benefit ratio given my current electricity prices. At current prices I’m not even sure I’d break even financially for my maintenaince costs of solar (like battery replacement) versus just paying my utility bill. As energy prices change that might change but currently it doesn’t make sense for me, i still have a mortgage to pay and other major repairs to do to my house and ideally id have to prematurely redo the roof before installing solar.

I believe there could be some valid uses for responsible use of them, but summarizing the best chocolate chip cookie recipes every time someone searches for a recipe certainly isnt that use.

Plus in theory the data centers could be using green energy, makung their main impacts come from the cooling towers and additional mining of resources rather than the energy they consume. Its the same argument with EVs they are better if powered by green energy, but still better if the energy isn’t spent at all, for example being able to take a bike to the store rather than a 6000 lbs EV.

Well greenhouse gases are often described as a blanket and a blanket doesn’t immediately get warm, it take time. I doubt the trickling effect is much different in lag time than sudden pulses, its just gradually increasing the blanket rather than pulling it all on at once. Its still gonna take time for more solar energy to accumulate by bouncing off the trickling in CO2.
In the book plows, plagues, and petroleum, the author uses several factors of humans history to argue that man made climate change was slowly having an impact much before the industrial revolution, which is the common “starting point” for most people and scientists. Althought not as drastic as this sudden increase in fossil fuel burning, they argue that impacts such as deforestion and burning of cropland in early human settlements had a measureable impact on carbon sinks and carbon releases, still enough to start skewing the natural rate of climate change.

Some level of personal guilt for continuing to exist in a system where fossil fuels are burned on their behalf and we often need to burn them ourselves to live a nornal life because the alternatives may barely exist. For example see DEI bike lanes in the states and the banning of them in ontario in canada thus promoting more car use and discourage/making it more dangerous to bike.

Kids today just love to complain about the weather. It was hot when i was young too and the rain didn’t stop us. Tornados have always happened outside their traditional range occasionally. If CO2 is to blame then volcanos are the real problem. /s

I hate data centers as much as the next guy but usually there is a lag time of several years for climate change to link to its causes. We probably haven’t seen the worse of the climate related impacts for up to date AI use yet.
What is your diet like? When i eat poorly it really effects my energy. Im not even 30 yet but I’ve noticed i can’t eat junk foods like i did just a few years ago, they leave me feeling lethargic. I tend to do best on a more whole foods diet. Like cooking chicken breast instead of chicken nuggets and avoiding ultra processed foods.
Also is your sleep actually good quality? Do you use any drugs like Marijuana before bed? Are you dreaming pretty consistently? Is your bed time and wake up time consistent?
My assumption is they either have a small peepee or poor stamina in terms of lasting. Should still be able to get around either of those issues with the right partner so long as you are both willing to try things (dildo, more hands or mouths involved instead of penetration etc.)
I may have worded my response poorly as your explanation is similar to what i meant. If half of the 1000 gay men are DTF that would be 500 potential rando partners or 50% of their population. You would only need 2.5% of the 20,000 women to be DTF to have the same number of 500 potential partners. Regardless if you aren’t confident you won’t be as successful in either group.
I’m not sure I’ve ever met someone “friendzoned” using a partner for that. Maybe for emotional support but what you described there is more how toxic relationships go down.
Right cause straight people dont use things like tinder for quick sex. Given its still a minority population thats gay id say your chances of finding platonic sex while straight is as high or higher than finding a hook up while gay. The per capita gay FWB may be higher, but the sheer population of straight people skews the numbers to still being pretty easy to find just sex for straight people.
You joke but as an overworked trades guy who recently bought a fixer upper house and trying to gainweight/muscle mass this is actually my life.
Most of my time not at work is spent repairing something at home, doing chores, working out, or cooking. Usually multitasking them like doing the dishes while resting between sets.

The games can be hit or miss depending how serious it gets. I personally haven’t been on discord as much cause my friends are gaming and doing call outs and clearly focused on that meanwhile id rather actually catch up, shoot the shit and stuff. Its lame getting old.

you’ll never see people argue IRL like they do online
You haven’t met me or my friends and family. Just yesterday i got into an argument with my dad about AWD systems on an SUV i recently researched and purchased meanwhile he knew nothing about that specific system. We usually call it off before it gets to the “nice opinion asshole, go jerk off in your echo chamber” level.
Some of it is nearly non negotiable. Like my bank changing their terms and conditions, sure i could go to another bank, but they’ve probably already got the same terms and conditions or the same changes coming. And it can be very difficult to live a normal life without a bank account.
