1·9 months agoApple has a method that achieves this without a push token though. The server can update to notify the all copies of the app of locations of significance. Then when you leave or arrive in a location of significance (with the device doing the determination of if you are or are not in that location) the device itself generates the notification.

8·9 months agoI’ve only got my family and friends to reference, but it breaks about 70/30 with the MAGA conservatives on Android/iPhone and 80/20 for the liberals/leftists preferring iPhones.
And of my family at least, I suspect a big part of that is the conservatives are not the tech savvy ones who go into a store, knowing what kind of device they want; they just go into their cell phone provider and get whatever is least expensive for a smartphone

36·10 months agoAh yes, wealthy people who love being seen at all the hot stuff in NYC are suddenly going to move somewhere else without the clout like Kansas City.
You can use it to pay a medieval plague doctor that will give you leech therapy. They will need to place the leeches at the base of your cylinder as well as any free hanging olive shaped objects attached to the cylinder to shrink it so your homemade fleshlight falls off-I mean so the m&m tube- I mean the Manny the mammoth toy falls off your dick-I mean ohhhh you touch my tra-la-la
At this point, the show is based on the 1st novella only.
I just finished a re-read and I didn’t get a sense that secunits had an agender appearance, this was after Martha Wells asked online to find out where a bunch of people got the idea that Murderbot was femme-androgynous so it was top of mind to look for in the books.
My general head cannon for the discrepancies especially with the additions is that the books are written by Murderbot as a record and it has admitted to being an unreliable narrator including glossing over things that it’s not interested in or doesn’t understand the value of. The show is more of a third-person perspective so it’s entirely possible some of what we are seeing was those moments that Murderbot didn’t see fit to include.

2·10 months agoThat’s awesome! I’m curious about Thief and why you DNF’d it. No criticism, just curious about keeping it in my recommendations. It is a pretty slow burn and I’m curious if that was a factor.
