I had my DNS configured so my public-facing server resolved to a local IP address when on my LAN. This meant that my web, immich, xmpp, NTP, jellyfin and DoH servers all resolved to a local IP address on wifi.
I unfortunately don’t have an answer to your question since I’m not on Android 17, but I do want to ask about this part. What’s the benefit of this? Does it improve speed when streaming on Jellyfin?
Sketchy guy tells a one-sided story about how he got banned multiple times on Reddit.
Everyone in the comments showering him with love, trashing Reddit, and completely ignoring the huge red flag that there must be some fucking reason why that guy got banned multiple times.
Welcome to !reddit@lemmy.world.
The issue is that most people aren’t aware that their data is being sold, or they just don’t care at all. And by 2023, most people on Reddit were using the official app, not 3rd party apps (according to the subreddit stats of the subreddits I used to moderate). So for most people, the 2023 API change wouldn’t have affected them at all. It only would’ve affected older users and some moderators.
What can reddit do in order to create an outrage big enough to make people leave or to boycott the platform?
It would have to be a disruption that would affect:
Not only do you need to do all 3, you need to do it simultaneously in order for the users to rebel. So Reddit nowadays have chosen to implement negative changes in smaller parts. AKA boiling the frog alive.

According to what’s said on Fedecan:
If a user from instance A sends a private message to a user from instance B, only the admins of instances A and B will be able to see the message. This is required to deal with spam and abuse.
And that’s slightly better than “this happened weeks ago but we’re just now getting around to updating everyone because we were trying to hide the fact that we had a leadership change”.

Unfortunately, my HDD doesn’t support those ports so I guess I’ll just suck it up and spend the extra $20. Thanks for the help! :)

Hey there! A moderator just restored my post and you probably never got the notification for my previous comment. I was just wondering if this is the UPS you had in mind.
Here’s the link from your instance: https://anarchist.nexus/post/677094
If that doesn’t work, the title of the thread is “How to auto remount external HDD after power loss”.
Thank you for the rule change! I had a post deleted previously and there were some pretty helpful advice in there on how to manage my HDD. Any chance you may be able to restore it so I can look at those comments again?

Would this be something you’re talking about? It’s the cheapest one I can see on Amazon here in Canada.

This is my HDD. Aren’t these guys able to handle power losses since people usually plug them in to backup stuff, and then pull the plug once they’re done?
And does ext4 count as a journaling file system?

So that means it’s not possible for me to power my 3.5" HDD with just USB, right?

Do you have a USB power bank you can recommend? My external HDD requires a wall plug and I’ve never seen a USB power bank where I could plug my HDD into it.

Could you please elaborate on why this is a bad idea?

If I were to make it run that command every 5 minutes, would there be any downsides?

It doesn’t happen often, but when it does happen I temporarily lose access to my media. But based on what others are saying here, it looks like it’s possible to manually remount my drive instead of rebooting. So I’ll give that a try.
I can’t wait for Discord, Valve, and Reddit to reveal voices38’s identity, only to discover that the IP address is a VPN from a jurisdiction that doesn’t give a shit about copyright.
