ROFL Unexpected, but a fun short comic!
Just a dude who believes in the Fediverse over standard Social Media sites! I’m a fan of horror, cute animals, and handsome lads.
ROFL Unexpected, but a fun short comic!
Yep, in many cases people live paycheck to paycheck without being able to save money for an emergency. Often, we are just one emergency away from homelessness! By design, the US has very few avenues in the way of social safety nets (the few we do possess for those who are disabled or elderly, are being attacked by Republicans). People have voted against their own best interests enough to cause this crisis; it will be an uphill battle to destroy those walls built against real change.
Yeah, that mentality of ‘at least I still have my job’ with the added cost of work/life imbalance and stress is wild to me! Corporations shouldn’t have so much power as their staff are the ones bringing in the profits. Sane business models can be profitable, respecting their staff’s time and effort. I can only hope more people wake up and unionize! As there have been victories here that should blaze a path.
If only Americans protested like the French, we’d be in such a better place. Politicians would actually work for us, I hope they win continued access to gender affirming care!
The youngest of people certainly will be I could have worded this thought better, but I didn’t. Severe weather is certainly a consequence as well as increased extremes in temperature which are currently happening. Everyone already feels the impact of irresponsible environmental decisions made by the oil industry and industrial agriculture/animal husbandry. Millennials, Gen X and Gen Z will be around to experience the worsening of conditions on Earth. I do genuinely believe that people don’t consider the fact that they aren’t going to experience the climate outcomes based on irresponsible decisions. However, based on the current growing political instability of the USA; I wonder if people are beginning to feel a desire to indulge as they don’t know if they’ll come out unscathed from the blowup which is bound to happen at some point. A bad outlook to have in a way as that will only magnify future issues, however, humans aren’t always rational! 🤪
Yeah, it’s truly wild that the rules didn’t transfer over (those were clearly written on each subreddit). The gold rush was poorly done, if it were better managed we’d have had a better default experience! Lemmy is one of several sources for unique erotic content (as gay NSFW is more scattered online). Often the only ones posting are the mods of said community so often I don’t need to block them as it’s all unique. I’ve almost fully curated my Lemmy experience now; since I’ve invested more time in this fediverse social platform.
I’ve got hundreds of straight porn related communities blocked which were a lot of repeating themes which could be combined in one! Sprinkled in are some about sports, furries, and anime porn. I like exploring All and blocking the communities that don’t speak to me. My block list is going to be huge before long, at the rate duplicates are made.
Humans can be weird about these facts or simply indifferent to the known effect that raising these animals for meat has on the environment. Additionally, I think the antagonistic message of a few vocal vegans triggered a powerful foolishness in the heads of certain people who are prone to acting hedonistically upon being told not to do something. A combination of apathy, chasing profits, taste for beef, and spite which fuels the industrialized beef production business. Another issue is that most of us simply won’t be around to experience the consequences of the unchecked corporations responsible for this willful harm the meat industry is causing Earth’s climate and surrounding environment. I believe in moderation, eating as little of all the meats as possible (those industries have a big impact on the environment). As an American, I see a weird pride that certain people have about eating as much meat as possible; loudly shunning and making fun of those who have either a mostly plant-based, vegetarian, or vegan diet. It’s such a selfish outlook that happens in societies that focus on the individual over the many.
I’m chronically ill, while I would certainly help in a capacity which avoids direct combat situations; I still would help those on the left combat the fascist Republicans!
It’s a big YMMV experience with Linux, it just boiled down to mental load in comparison to Windows; Remembering all manner of commands and how to do certain things, along with that subset of hostile Linux users on help forums has made it an OS that I will use only in a dire situation. Linux is mostly for those who aren’t afraid to tinker with the OS and have time to figure out what the hell is wrong with their PC in case of a strange situation occurring. Ubuntu worked really well for me for years (except the times it didn’t, and I Googled my way to a solution each time). I did miss the ease of installing games and just having them work without extra steps (a common issue for most games). I also expanded my console games library so that the game variety is not lacking.
Windows is admittedly easier to maintain, and I never have any encountered any major concerns since the Windows 7 days and once while on Windows 10. As far as compatibility goes, I know most of my Steam and GOG libraries are compatible with Linux, since I’ve a tendency to buy games which are supported on Linux. I made sure to give myself a decent library as a result in case Microsoft screwed the pooch enough that I needed to go back to a Linux distro.
Microsoft’s own incompetence has made Windows 11 a failure. The system requirements really made it a flop (possibly an intentional part of their plan to boost hardware sales but create a ton of e-waste as a result). I’m running Windows 11 as my PC meets the specs, it’s not a bad OS persay as it works for my day to day needs. However, if I didn’t game on PC I would probably switch completely to Linux. I stay on Windows as it is for the time being convenient to do so. If the next version of Windows has a dire increase in regards to specifications…I would likely go back to Ubuntu!
I was never aware of that fact, as I never expected that Sony would be in on that kind of scheme! There’s too much going on and I simply can’t take it all in. However, this doesn’t surprise me as megacorps will do whatever it takes to make as much money as possible! Since buying power makes right (up until they get a firm slap on the wrist). 🥴
I just tried to say something sarcastic but, yeah; In truth, I do agree with your assessment of Amazon OneHealth. As it’s a hybrid of a low end concierge medicine program with a tiny amount of insurance-like benefits.
ROFL It’s tragic that Amazon is in the insurance game…That’s when you know it’s a true dystopian present getting started in full gear.
I’m usually blunt about it and say, ‘I’m just here to work and go home, there is no reason for you to tell on yourself like this.’ I can’t waste emotional bandwidth on these types of people. Naturally it depends on the severity and gross factor of whatever they are trying to emotionally dump how much verbal force I use to shut them down.
As a long time ago, I observed a pattern of the types of people who do that. Heading it off before it can begin by remaining neutral and distant towards them. Using brief sentences to communicate, working alongside them without fostering any camaraderie.
I’ve noticed a wider range of people than older white conservative men, however, they seem more likely to with other men. I’ve had a wide range of people from young, old women attempt this while I was working. I acting a bit more polite in those situations, but defended my boundaries.
ROFL This is madness! I’d love to know who is behind this push to gaslight people into believing that having a great work/life balance is something to be frowned upon!
A swamp cooler would potentially be a solution; those could be used in conjunction with your ready access to water in order to keep your home cool! Sadly, this is not great for areas of the world which already have high levels of humidity in the air. I don’t know if it would work well for you based on not knowing your climate. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evaporative_cooler
