Casserole and coleslaw? Interesting mix but I don’t judge

Mechanical Keyboards@programming.dev•Total newbie on a dell office keyboard - Question about noise on mechanical keyboards
3·7 days agoIf you want to have a listen, you can see that the majority of the noise is from the key returning to the top, which can be massively reduced by using more dense material in the keycaps themselves, and by using rubber o-rings on the keycap stems. (Or by having weaker springs so the upwards return force is less aggressive)
The sound is at about the same level as typing on a regular membrane keyboard

Mechanical Keyboards@programming.dev•Total newbie on a dell office keyboard - Question about noise on mechanical keyboards
5·7 days agoFor me it’s being able to pick and choose the resistance to button presses, I go with heavy (60-70g) springs because I have a habit of hammering on keys and that resistance reduces the time I spend bottoming out the keys.
I use tactile switches (no audible click but a noticeable feel of when the switch actuates) instead of the ‘blue’ or clicky keyswitches because I prefer my keyboard not announce itself.
Linear switches are also an option, with some of them you can have an entirely silent action, often with softer springs so that typing on it feels like brushing your fingers across a cloud (for me softer springs means pressing random keys all the time because I am a ham fisted gorilla in a human suit.)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•do you think doomscrolling on the fediverse is possible?
3·8 days agoI have a problem (made worse by an insatiable desire to know what’s going on in the world and whatever the fuck’s wrong with my brain)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•do you think doomscrolling on the fediverse is possible?
37·8 days agoIm doing it right now
It can’t be done by every company/can’t be done en masse at an economically viable cost.
But it can, and is, done in smaller cases.
These things aren’t mutually exclusive
Your job wont keep your around for long either way if it can be done by a language model.
The best part is that 50x work is worthless, and requires 100x the human hours to check over every output.
Cogsuckers be like “I am a real programmer”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How to gain weight from eating almost exclusively bread and potatoes?
3·11 days agoCook with real Butter, and learn how to make all the potato foods you can; hash browns, big steak chips to small fries, mash with a bit of milk and butter, jacket potaotes stuffed with things like beans and cheese, try see if the act of cooking something new helps build an appetite by association.
Another food to go for is purple sweet potato, not only is it delicious its genuinely full of nutrients.
Another method is finding a cheap soylent recipe and having a bottle of that every day to supplement your calories without being unbalanced.

This site has a whole list of varying types, including from expensive to cheap

For example this one is for making gains in the gym but the calorie excess would still help if you’re only eating once a day.
The recipe says it can be modified to replace the maltodextrin with rice flour (and imo the stevia for actual sugar or honey if you’re like me and can’t stand the taste of sweeteners)
