  • They got your IP Address, which just means they have the number that corresponds to your device when it accesses the internet (for most people in most situations, this number changes often) and it doesn’t really do much besides tell them the general location of the device based on the numbers themselves as they pertain to a location with how they’re assigned. But they’re general enough to be mostly useless. But enough to spook some folks.

But, was the thing about urine in your second to last sentence a mistype or did you mean that?

  • Man says “hamas aren’t good guys, but they are the only ones bargaining on behalf of Gazans”

And you say “he said hamas are good guys”

If you learned “everything after the But in a sentence is a lie” and still believe it that vehemently without nuance into your adult life, you should reevaluate who you’re taking your life advice from. Things can have nuance, and this war is fucking filled with it. Gazans who haven’t known a life outside of death and destruction of their home voting for people who claim they’ll fight for them (Hamas), radicalized by the violence enacted upon them by Israel. Israel insisting the death tolls are anyway near similar, riling up their citizens and voter bases about Hamas, an organization that, with it’s absolute best opportinity for a ‘surprise’ attack on October 7th, barely scratched the surface of the innocent deaths since this has begun. It was a travesty, a loss of innocent life, and it was met with another travesty, another loss of life, but in greater force than they could have ever attempted.

If you can’t sympathize with a people who have been starved, bombed, displaced, and then blamed for their existence, then history has failed you.

  • I just started diving into the space from a localized point yesterday. And I can say that there are definitely problems with garbage spewing, but some of these models are getting really really good at really specific things.

A biomedical model I saw seemed lauded for it’s consistency in pulling relevant data from medical notes for the sake of patient care instructions, important risk factors, fall risk level etc.

So although I agree they’re still giving well phrased garbage for big general cases (and GPT4 seems to be much more ‘savvy’), the specific use cases are getting much better and I’m stoked to see how that continues.

  • It’s weird how few “gangbangers” ever wind up being caught, pursued, litigated against and how many of them cops seem to kill or claim they’ve killed before any substantial evidence is ever obtained.

It’s almost like they’re justifying their increased budgets and surveillance even though crime has been on a steady decline (covid spike notwithstanding) for the last 50 years.

Those same gangbangers exist in countries that don’t have the same level of police shootings, and they haven’t overrun the government (even though bad guys don’t listen to gun laws and can buy them anywhere, as police tell me, so that can’t be the case)

  • My wife and I use the pinky promise as a sacred oath and sometimes an investigative tool.

If we’re not okay, or we’re worried the other is putting on a face to get through a moment without being honest, the pinky is used as a “I won’t ask again, just promise me you’re alright, or will be alright, and we’re good” and that kicks off a conversation or she confirms that she’s fine and the tone is residual from another frustration.

Pinky is sacred, if my wife lied on a pinky promise, it would breach our deepest marital trust.
