  • It’s really sad to me that modern youths and others tend to only listen to streaming music services, paying subscriptions, listening to ads, not being able to choose what song they hear next.

Everyone should own some form of permanently usable media with the music they like on it. If bands were still putting out CDs I’d recommend that for long term storage, because my collection from the 90s is still working fine. But with smartphones being the king of all social control now, I’d recommend having MP3s of every song and album you enjoy. Store them in multiple places with backups. I have also been collecting those since the 90s. My music collection is awesome. I have hundreds of CDs and about 10000 MP3s that no corporation can deny me access to.

The only thing I like about streaming services is discovering new artists. But I don’t need it to do that.

  • Rudo’s tool sounds cool.

I’ve done those conversions by hand before, just deleting irrelevant Google junk out of the KML file to import it to OsmAnd~ because I planned my route on the desktop Google Earth app (3D is cool) and exported it to KML. After some edits it usually will import to OsmAnd on the phone

  • I didn’t have to pay for it, installed from F-Droid, and I can download any map I’ve tried so far. When I’m traveling I like to pre-download the standard map for the whole state if it’s one I don’t already have installed. It’s nice to not have to worry about data / reception.

Overall OsmAnd is a pretty good GPS-map-navigation app, but has several annoyances and bugs. Still better than using Google’s app to me. I need to check out Organic maps too

It really seems like you’re imagining a bunch of things I never said anything about, because you want to get on your soapbox and talk more about poverty. Everything I suggested is completely achievable by many of those in poverty, to which I speak from personal experience.

I disagree with the assertion points 1 through 6 are factual. Those are all extremely broad generalizations based on assumptions you hold. Some of those things do happen on occasion of course, but it’s not a railroad track of 1 leads to 6 with no other possibilities. The financial industry is heavily regulated by the US Gov’t which exerts control to prevent much of 1 - 3 on your list.
