A nas is just a crippled home server. Just run a home server and it can act as your nas, too, and not be crippled. You don’t need a rack mount solution just build a pc in your price range (I built an i3 server this year for around $200 that will blow any NAS out of the fucking water) and install the appropriate OS/Software. All it does is run plex now, but I’m thinking of stealing some of your privacy focused ideas maybe I’ll setup next cloud, too :)
If people could get paid for every time a coworker made an unfavorable comparison about them, the USA would collapse. Many work environments I’ve been in have been very toxic, with reports actually yielding more abuse or consequences (cut hours, unreasonable expectations going forward, etc). While the UK libel laws go a little far, we could definitely use that kind of culture of responsibility in the USA.
We’ll see, all this congressional testimony in skifs , laws drawn up for whistleblowers, video, etc seems like a giant waste of time / money if it’s ALL fake. Just curious do you guys just dismiss everything sight unseen or actually take the time to learn about new claims? I do think 99% are likely black projects, but I also think that the universe is so big that over the course of humanity some kind of space amoeba or drone or something has come by. And that is the kind of thing, if I was a government, that I’d want to control. I also don’t shut myself off from information just because a source isn’t verified yet, I like to give them a chance to present more. If you watch the gofast/gimbal/etc videos / pilots across the globe reporting anomalies, and don’t at least raise an eyebrow at the technology that WE apparently have, I don’t know. I think a lot of people don’t even want to pay attention because it would hurt their world view that they have everything figured out. That makes me a bit skeptical of your call to just not pay attention until there’s evidence. We had to fight for evidence for decades, many many times, that was only declassified 20-30 years later. Going through history the gov has time and time again covered big things up until presented in court with video/photo evidence or the results of physical harm crop up - and only then would own up to it. I think we’re going to get incontestable proof within the next 5-10 years, but we’ll see.

One thing I read about was how Tor/Tails actually made itself more identifiable in some ways by having a “set” kind of user profile fingerprint (blank), and specific screen size/resolution and keyboard used. To actually pose as a real user, then spoofing a bunch of different hardware each time you turn on the OS/Browser seems like it would make you appear more authentic? That was a long time ago, maybe it’s being done already, or there is a reason they don’t that I do not understand. It seems like something they would obviously have thought of. At least in the US we aren’t using those kind of low resolutions as often anymore. When you say it’s based on tor, does it connect to the tor network? That always felt like a red flag for ISPs and spies to look deeper when connecting from say, a residential WiFi connection.
Haha, I do have a soft spot in my heart for trolling. That’s great. They’ve got money, I’m sure they can hire a therapist to massage their ego and make them feel like they’re a good person again. Unfortunately. Just once it would be cool if one of these billionaires/millionaires read something, woke up and used their money to help humanity instead of exploiting it buuut… probably not going to happen…
If you host the server it is. Which is really easy. Then you can do stuff to add security like adding an IP whitelist perhaps along with other things.

Mumble! You can host your own mumble server, I used to it for privacy over Discord. Getting people to use it is another challenge.
This is pretty scary. If something huge kicked off, who would USA support? I feel like Trump is just waiting for his opportunity (ie major war/attack) to declare martial law and extend his presidency past 4 years. I really hope I’m wrong.
