I’m going to be an asshole here but hopefully it adds perspective. Do you care if the girl dies of a drug overdose, or that she may be getting targeted with grooming by a manager for other reasons? If you do, you report it. If you don’t then just live your life and turn a blind eye. There is no in between. Hopfully nothing happens to the girl that you could have prevented.

It’s tough when you have to be there as support for others. You realize you never had time to process things and then it all hits at once. This was nearly 20 years ago now and it’s still one of the worst feelings. I’m sorry you and your family had to go through this, and I hope healing has happened for all involved.

The day my mom passed after a 2 year battle with cancer. My wife and I were running all day, from something like 5am. We finally get home about midnight and realize we hadn’t eaten anything at all that day. We look in the cupboards, fridge, etc and there is absolutely nothing but a single can of chef boyardee ravioli. We were so tired, we stood at the kitchen sink eating them cold, right out of the can. About half way though the can we both started crying as we hadn’t let the emotions touch us yet. So through our tears of grief, we ate cold ravioli out of a can.

I went to a boarding school for the blind. The high school and elementary schools were connected by a long hallway. I was 19 and so had a bit more freedom to do things the others were not allowed. One of the thing I liked doing was hanging out with the elementary principles admin assistant. She was 22 and we really liked each other. You can fill in the rest I’m sure. They couldn’t do anything about it, but they really tried. She eventually quit but would come back and pick me up to go to her place. Got asked once where I was going everyday by a dorm manager. Told them the truth, this guy was an older biker, drove a Harley and wore a leather jacket. The kids loved him cause he wasn’t an ass and let us get away with a lot of stuff. He thought it was hilarious. I was told by others multiple times that it was inappropriate. The year after I graduated they added a rule to the bylaws that said no students could date or have any other relationships with school staff.

People don’t like change, and most have extremely short memories. I doubt Reddit will see any major loss and will back to business as usual very soon if they are not already.
