Yeah that makes sense. Though, hopefully more states (or the fed) follow California, Connecticut, Colorado, and Virginia’s lead in passing right to be deleted and stronger digital privacy laws.

Mayor is generally a demotion. Mayor of NYC is like being an authoritarian over a small but major nation with large, critical economy and the 7th largest army in the world. So arguably that would actually be a large step up for AOC, if we’re just talking about pure power and authority.
In some ways you have more concentrated power.
To quote a mayor of NYC: “I have my own army in the NYPD, which is the seventh biggest army in the world. I have my own State Department, much to Foggy Bottom’s annoyance. We have the United Nations in New York, and so we have an entree into the diplomatic world that Washington does not have.”
Oh WOAH. You just made me understand wtf is going on with the payphone in the scene at the beginning of War Games! He was making the clicks by hanging it up repeatedly. You just unlocked a memory of me and my dad, he loved that movie. That as well as what was going on in that scene! I can’t believe that scene came back to me right now and connected to what you were saying.
Apparently my brain wanted to know how that worked while my conscious brain didn’t really think about it much other than “huh.” At the time. My dad did make me watch it like five times though.
Meat, grains, fruit, and veg. Just different ones and less variety.
Sorry couldn’t hear you
And yet because of the electoral college, it’s still dead even. Factor in the armed citizen (trump supporting) electoral monitors planning to patrol ballots on election day and other vote suppression tactics, disenrollment and other court disenfranchisement tactics, and laws being passed to try to legally not certify a Harris victory, I figure Harris is probably and a 45-55 underdog at the moment.
Young people still don’t vote at very high rates. They also tend to be the most likely demographic to say they are a likely voter but then not actually bother to vote. The youth vote is still a problem in this country.
I could be wrong, but I seem to remember that young conservative “likely voters” were much more likely to actually vote, so that muddies some of the clarity here as well.
As far as I can tell based on the unspecific, generalized use of the terms by people across the political spectrum, “fascist” and “nazi” just mean someone or something with which someone disagrees or finds annoying, so under this much more nebulous definition, anyone and everything can be fascist.
For instance you and your comment are fascist. See? It worked!
Didn’t we try this once with “Air America”?
One “bean” is native to Europe. The fava or horse bean to be specific.
Pretty shocking, eh?
I’ve always found Newsom creepy and slimy, but what is up with him over the last six months? I don’t live in California so I just generally try to ignore that he exists.
Yes isn’t it obnoxious when leaders listen to their people despite their personal feelings?
All else aside, if our leaders were more like the crown prince, we wouldn’t be sending more bombs to the bombers.
“I don’t care personally, but my people do, so I’m doing what they ask.” Meanwhile, national polling suggests a majority of Americans want to stop arming Israel while they’re committing war crimes, but the overwhelming majority of our political leaders give full-throated support.
And America is, ostensibly, the democracy.
I’m sure something will definitely be done about this.
A lot of “traditional” national foods are like that, especially if you consider pre-columbian food traditions. If you just limit it to chocolate, tomatoes, sweet and hot peppers, potatoes, and beans, none of which were used or available in Europe until after importation, you see that it gets murky pretty quickly. Funny how we associate potatoes with Ireland, tomatoes with Italy, and chocolate with Switzerland when they’re actually all indigenous American foods.
The electoral college and DNC hubris are the reasons Hillary lost.
If you know you know
The sad thing is that someone in the crowd shouts “kamala” and the crowd laughs in agreement.
He may be completely weird, incompetent, and losing his mind, but he’s literally on the same level as many of his supporters, and his support has basically been rock solid for years now. As in historically unprecedented lack of variance in his support.
That’s the real problem and the real thing to be worried about. Half the country is like “YES, EXACTLY, THE FLY IS A HAT KAMALA AND CHANGES RAPIDLY AND I CAN’T TAKE IT ANY LONGER! FINALLY SOMEONE THAT GETS IT AND WILL FIGHT AGAINST THE HAT FLY KAMALA. ALL THOSE PEOPLE THAT SAID IF I DIDN’T GET AN EDUCATION AND WAS AN ASSHOLE TO EVERYONE WOULD LEAD TO A SHITTY LIFE ARE WRONG TRUMP SAYS I’M PERFECT AND WILL GIVE ME MONEY AND HURT THE PEOPLE DOING BETTER (FAKE NEWS!) THAN ME!”
Your number had what now?? Wow. Maybe you mean five? I was reading a Times article that they changed the four digit codes in 1930, but maybe that wasn’t standardized across the country. I’ve learned more about phone history than I ever expected to in my life. 🤣
