Ha! Super interesting. First time I hear about that.

Since Slesar really insists in writing the dad’s multiple wrong answers, I assume he wants him to appear dumb. Plus, if he was smart, giving wrong answers wouldnt help unless he knew what the test consists, which is highly likely.
I believe the father is “dumb” (he just doesn’t know certain facts), but still the parents dont know for sure what will happen.
Mr. and Mrs. Jordan were in the living room, not speaking, not even speculating.

Damn! The year was the first thing I saw. Incredibly prescient.

Interesting, makes me think about the movie Groundhog day.
Yeah exactly.
From SFSS’s very first posts in 2019, I chose to include the publication year in the title.
At first, there was no particular reason for doing so. Later, however, I realized that it was necessary in order to place each story in its proper historical context (especially since I post both Golden Age stories and more recent works).
I only discovered Brown recently.
A while ago, I posted another shorter story (on AI) by him (“Answer”).
This new story is even better. It’s just a bit too long for an online read, I guess…
Worth the read though! Airplane mode to the rescue.
Daaaamn. Amazing!

Ah man, glad to read that!

Forgot about that.

Yeah. F.

It seems there’s even a mysterious (much) shorter other sf story, but it sucks: its just one letter (F, iirc). I don’t remember well the concept, just that its not interesting at all.

(currently reading Wheel of Time tho!)

I didn’t know who Michael Blake was, but if that’s a pen name, it’s not Robert Jordan’s.

Yeah.

Do yo have other recs regarding his novels?

Im in France, too far and risky unfortunately (correct me if im wrong)
Maybe u have an electronic version?
Forgot that line :
Its the father, probably thinking his son will ace the test.
