Another user who thinks this is asklemmy
Every generation thinks they invented the things they appropriated
I’m not sure what’s worse…implying that 99% of humans are insects or that the 1% is better than the rest
I feel like dragged predates slammed as slang but it definitely wasn’t popular headline material
Why do you say the US government made this when they clearly did not?
For 2, I initially thought the same thing…but Trump is on board to “finish the job” in Palestine. I’m sure all the countries controlled by a corrupt Muslim government have SOME mixed feelings on the orange turd.
Either way, I’m glad it failed. Just imagine the Christ allegory his cult would spin out of it.
Agreed. It’s mostly corporate slop but sometimes they find an absolutely killer recipe so credit where credit’s due.
a creative actually had a really good idea they pitched to the executives
They is delusional. Do they think Disney is some indie company and not a corporate machine?
Everything they do is for profit, not giving fans what they want. It just so happens that the two sometimes line up and we get a good movie out of it.
For years, Disney’s intent was to saturate the market with Marvel. They didn’t want a single month to go by without SOME Marvel movie or TV show. Them not thinking fans would get fatigued like they did is evidence enough that fans were never their priority.
What I said is still true. They’d care if they understood but they lack the incentive out ability to so they go with the flow of that they people around them say
You don’t have to convince them that the GOP hates them. You need to put your money with your mouth is and actually introduce policy changes benefitting the working class and publicize them in a way that even the dumbest person can understand.
Politics are complicated. The economy is complicated. Even completely capable people don’t invest the time to understand them because they don’t need to know the details about either to get by in life. Especially true if they’re struggling to get by.
We need Bernie Sanders policies with Katie Porter delivery.
So it seems! Oh well, no hard feelings here
Are we reading the same thread? Nowhere in the comments does OP ask for UK-specific terms. OC said “the sticks” doesn’t mean poor (agreed) and mentioned what the UK. OP accepts then asks for a better term and I replied with my anecdote.
“Backwoods” is what my friend calls the poor part of “the sticks” so I believe my reply was relevant
…where did OP ask for UK-specific terms? I didn’t say “the estates” was wrong, I answered OP’s question in a comment chain that happened to start with a UK terms for poor neighborhoods…
Local terms will surely vary, he’s from the US east coast
He is up by FIVE MILLION votes as of this comment. Fuck the red states
It surely wasn’t random. There’s people out there who don’t want you to have anything for free
My friend grew up in the type of neighborhood you’re describing and he calls them “backwoods communities”
I’ve got an idea as to why.
I went to mastodon.social and see a Linux meme, some heavy political commentary, and a bunch of posts about mastodon being better than Twitter.
I then went to bluesky.app and see some political riffing, cute animals, a comic, some jokes, a company, and even Don Lemon.
The average person checking them both out for the first time, mastodon is nerd shit and Bluesky is normal shit.
