Using a scythe (scything?) is awesome. It takes some time to figure out, but once you do it is extremely satisfying and actually not very exhausting. The hard part is keeping the damn thing sharp.

It depends. If your software lives in a rapidly evolving ecosystem and gets buggier with age, CalVer tells the user how important it is to update. If the ecosystem is stable and you want to inform the user about feature sets and bug fixes, SemVer makes more sense.

But then I’d have to open the URL in the browser which needs a minute to load, and then I have to click away several cookie banners or wait for an extension to do it for me. Opening a YouTube URL always feels like I’m installing an app.

I also noticed the youtube rss feeds are returning 404s now as well.
They are still working for me. Example: https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=UC5rT7F0PGNuD54rJ9kzgWzw
EDIT: This is the command I use to convert YouTube channel URLs into RSS URLs:
curl --silent "https://www.youtube.com/@thecodyreeder" \
| grep -Po '"rssUrl"\s*:\s*"[^"]+"' \
| cut -d : -f 2- | tr -d \"

You are saying the planned to run him over. How do you back that up?
I agree that she made a terrible mistake. She should have to pay restitution to the family, get jail time and probably never drive again. But murder is a whole different thing. You might as well charge her with genocide.

At least she turned herself in. I’m not sure I would’ve had enough courage and selfrespect to do that.

I never really understood the appeal of arranging severed plant genitals. Sure, it looks nice. But boobs also look nice, and I don’t cut them off and put them in a pretty bowl on my living room table.

I disagree. Everyone believes that people are greedy and their only goal in life is money hoarding. But if you ask them what their own goals are, getting filthy rich has very, very low priority.
If politicians are greedy, that’s because 1) to become a politician (in the USA), you already have to be rich, and 2) if politicians are paid lots of money, greedy people want to become politicians.
You don’t want to attract greedy assholes to represent you, but that’s exactly what you’re doing if you pay them too much. The people you do want to be politicians are those who aren’t interested in money.

Unlikely because they have very strict hardware requirements for security reasons. So far only Pixel phones had the required hardware. Motorola is planning to release some GrapheneOS phones in 2027, but they will be very expensive.

Can you explain what you mean exactly?

Doesn’t really matter because they still use the Linux kernel, which AFAIK allows LLM contributions.

If all the services suck, you could just not use any of them, like everyone did for literally millions of years. I don’t understand why supporting corporate neofascism is OK if their services are convenient.
The point of Uber is to make money. As long as businesses can make money by kicking you in the face, they will do it.
Yeah, but they aren’t Microsoft and have competition, so they might care if they lose your business. Unless you’re a big company or state actor, Microsoft probably wants your data more than what little money you have. Especially if they don’t get any money from you because you’re on some kind of charity plan.
A small local company is also more likely to help you with an individual backup solution if something off the shelve doesn’t fit you.
Not all clouds are equal.
