Technology@beehaw.org•The offline messaging apps challenging internet shutdownsEnglish
21·3 days agoAs someone that has used both for years:
- meshtastic - great at imprompu connections. Camping, big events, ect. Like within 5 milesish.
- meshcore - great at consistant communication with known nodes. Think your house, office, or established areas. Getting messages out of your local city is possible.
Its fun as a hobby.
This artist has it rough in particular.

21·3 days agoYou are correct.
Just want to add one thing, there MUCH easier ways now than those kind of setups. Its just not as cheap/accessible. I worked at a library and there is specific setups for certain kinds of books you cannot reproduce and still need to get a good scan in.

Technology@lemmy.world•Linux just cracked 10% desktop usage in North America, but no one's sure whyEnglish
1·3 days agoYep its not definitive. The only real data from that article was from cloudflare which showed some differing numbers. But thats all. I personally think we will know more once we have all the other trackers out there pull independent numbers.
Articles coming out seem to be what people “feel” like it is. Which isnt real data haha. All we can definitively say is that Linux usage is up from multiple trackers (stat counter/Cloudflare/Steam/etc…) but time will tell how much.

Technology@lemmy.world•Linux just cracked 10% desktop usage in North America, but no one's sure whyEnglish
1·3 days agoEither way, we will see after this month if this is a trend or something of a statistical anomaly.
Theres a lot of articles claiming this and that. The only thing we can definitively say is Linux usage seems up or at least browsers are reporting more Linux across the board. Be careful of people who are saying “its all AI” or “its all algorithms” etc…as its just one month.
Unrelated to the thread. Thats a great username. [Object Object] haha.
It was fun in college and a bit after. You dont lose anything learning it.
I personally like python more for scripting an MVP out really quick. Ocaml has some nice algorithmic stuff and I remember a UI library that made it fun.

Linux@programming.dev•Linux didn't just eat 10% of Windows market share, AI bots are inflating the numbersEnglish
13·6 days agoMost of it is. Theres a good portion on cloudflare. Linux its over 4% on desktop marketshare when filtering. Which sounds correct. But the rest of the article is just as you say.
I wonder if cloudflare includes chrome os, specialty linux distros, ect… are pulling the numbers one way or another?

Sounds good let me know how it goes. Its been 2 years for us and while the initial projects were somewhat vibe coded. Theres just more software doing things so ironically it means much more work for us.
We went through 1 months worth of tokens in 5 days. It was a 4k bill lol.
