Open Source@lemmy.ml•Gimp 3.2 is officially released. The game has changed. Adobe just got punched in the face.

22·2 个月前There was a serious move/fork to call it GLIMPSE a while back, but it got abandoned. https://itsfoss.com/gimp-fork-glimpse/
The name is a bigger problem than many think IMO
I personally always rename the launch icon on machines just because so many people comment on seeing GIMP on the desktop or menu.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Should there be something that installs Linux to disk directly from Windows?

Found that on day one, pretty sure it’s even in the instructions not to put the sensor somewhere you’ll put pressure on.
I use it for the Kindle app on my surface pro3 to read magazines.
Kindle unlimited gives free access to magazines, but only on kindle android app NOT on kindle web or Linux.

10·5 个月前Ventoy for most, but some stuff doesn’t work with correctly when booted from ventoy:
-
ChromeOS Flex won’t install to internal drive when ventoy booted, it will when flashed directly to a usb.
-
also had Linux Mint 22 try to install to the ventoy drive (wiping it and then crashing halfway through)
-
and dealing with really old 32bit bios laptops you’ll have to use direct usb too (AntiX still supports 32bit)

Programming@programming.dev•Can we possibly do without apps on PCs ?
21·6 个月前A Chromebook /chromeOS is mostly a PC without apps.
1GB RAM is tough for a GUI and Firefox, maybe AntiX will work
Really need a minimum of 2GB then you can run ChromeOS Flex, or Linux Mint XFCE

Great, now I can stop renaming it on business PCs
Might look edgy or funny to some, but at the least isn’t professional and is offensive to many.
