Going from my laptops to a client’s Windows machine feels like I’m stepping back in time, every time.
Even my Win10 VM is light years ahead of Windows ‘proper’ because of all of the modifications to make it usable.
MS Windows belongs in a museum, not at an office or on a desk.
(hate spewed at me by Adobe Premiere)
Now do this with Israelis.
Have you tried rawdoggin the WWW anytime in the last decade? Unusable.
I hope they all find better lives and live them.
None, I live on the hook. No rent, no slip fees.

I use a private PO box from a company that specializes in Dockside Services in Seattle / Ballard Wa. address, mail, ID, etc etc services for roamers. I have them forward to a temp address or General Delivery wherever I’m at. I also can use the Amazon lockers / Wholefoods, but I try to as little as possible. Outside of the US it gets a little trickier.
At anchor, lock it up, have a neighbor look after it, pop a fresh prepaid SIM into the camera, but that’s only like once a year I do this and ‘flyin’. I stipulate only a certain amount of fly-ins a year.
I do primarily remote work, my current employer is based in France and anything I do for work marine wise is local, unless I’m helping with a delivery.
But if I had a 9-5 brick & mortar job, I would just leave & lock the boat, take a 10-20 minute dinghy ride in to shore and tie up / lock up at a public dock (some have a small fee).
aaah man that makes me sad. Are you sure you can’t still do it?
Yes. It’s a Bayfield 29 to be exact
I do freelance / contract work in IT and marine/boat stuff. I live on anchor for about $2000 / yr, that’s the cost of replacing ground tackle (anchor chain lines parts plus some extra$). No rent.
I fish/crab/lobster, but it’s not enough for full-time subsistence.
My 29’ sailboat. I’ve lived aboard off grid for over 5 years now. I’ll never willingly move back to land, I’ll die out here. Under $20k btw.

Self checkout in the PNW rules.
Self checkout in South (east) Florida sucks.
Why? Because the volume is on 11, and the customer base is as dumb as a rock. Seriously, stand at any self checkout in SF for 10’ minutes and watch.
In 11 minutes you will either want to kill them or yourself, sometimes it’s a tossup.
You know I’m thinking maybe it’s time we made Running Man a real thing … I know who its first contestant can be.
Then those of us who survive find the bunkers and pour enough cement or move enough earth to entomb them.
Have a lovely week.
