You are correct, it’s not “crucial information”. Alas I have a feeling you’d argue art also is not crucial. You should look up a fellow called Maslow and the pyramid he built.

Links to Twitter, twitch, and YouTube. Twitch is for streaming, not for video uploads. Cmon man, why are you being this obtuse on purpose?
AFAIK Etho does not upload anywhere other than YouTube. Go ahead and post a link that isn’t a reupload. I’ve not found any.

Ye Power Trippin' Bastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Got banned for downvoting a powertripping Mod
2·8 months agoThat is a good point. The way the message was organized screamed AI though: emoji in headers, bold headers, the “not just __ - it means __” that LLMs love em dashes and so much more. If you go back through my comments I have no problem with AI generated text. I agree is sounds like an accusation, but it wasn’t necessarily meant in a negative, “this is bad” way.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why can't a liquid move faster than the speed of sound in that medium?
2·10 months agoImagine the liquid as a road, and the sound travelling through it as a runner on said road. Now, sound is faster than the road, because road isn’t moving anywhere. But if we replace the road with one of those airport speedwalking walking pads (kinda like escalators but flat on ground), now the ground is moving, but as luck would have it, the runner is now moving even faster. The more you speed up the pad, the faster the runner moves, even if the runner themselves has not increased their speed.
Weird stuff, but it does make sense. :)

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Desktop Linux distros similar to Steam OS?
1·11 months agoOne thing to be aware of in Linux is the fragmentation of where packages can be installed from.
Default package manager? Differs across distro-bases: rpm, apt, pacman, apk and more. Cross-distro? Flatpak, snap, appImage. Install on “wrong” distro? Distrobox and others.
Oftentimes one package is packed up for multiple managers and you’ll see a giant list of red and green in their github showing where you can and can’t find it, but it’s still worth being aware of it.
There are frontends that unify a handful of these but I wish there was a better option. Also inb4 standards.xkcd
With that said, getting started in Linux I recommend immutable images, only because you can’t tweak it so hard it borks. And afaik updates will always “just work”. I quite liked bazzite for that.

I use it as my daily driver, and will continue pushing updates as long as I can. There are a lot of outstanding issues, and I’m using this project to learn Kotlin, so definitely plan on more updates and maybe even sms encryption like partisan sms
