It depends if you think lying is a big deal. If you don’t think brazenly lying is a big deal what is wrong with you?
Employment is not a right? Well if we continue with a capitalist system and give most people no way to earn a living, we will need something to replace jobs for most people. We should not merely accept that it sucks and let things go to shit. We could pass laws limiting the use of AI or protecting workers, or providing basic income…
Whatever we do we had better figure it out soon, though.
But the difference I think is this isn’t just affecting a few niche industries (horses, carts and their associated care). AI is going to replace a huge, huge chunk of the workforce with no new jobs created to replace them. Even in the industrial revolution there were new jobs created - shittier jobs, but jobs. This is different.
Ok, but acting like you can’t trust any sources of info on anything is pretty destructive also. There are still some fairly reliable sources out there. Dismiss everything and you’re left with conspiracy theories.
It is stealing lots of potential work and income from professional creatives, though.

this article is depressing, damn.
Its true. I mean its possible, but with facebook involved? I feel a mistake is way more unlikely
At least thats kind of reassuring in a way, that part of it is people dont want to associate with that stuff. (Though I realize that isnt the only reason)
One candidate is openly planning to install himself as a violent authoritarian dictator. Voting against that is in fact important?

This is all true, but that shouldnt discourage people from voting this time around.
I know what they mean but there arent as many fence sitters in this American election anyway.
I can see this being a bigger problem in other democracies, however, where people are still swayed by facts
I have a soft spot for cassettes, they were my main musical … thing growing up well into high school. I cant remember the last time I actually listened to any of my old tapes but I keep them around to look at. Ive also got a cd collection, much smaller since I went basically right from tapes to downloading. These days i stream most music but I still purchase digital copies of albums (directly if I can to support the artists) and listen to mp3 on my desktop regularly
Even without organizing, just encouraging voters to turn up can have a big effect on elections.
With a FPTP system, Conservatives typically do better when voter numbers are low.
I left it to soak after making bacon. It became a greasy rusty mess… (of course now I could have saved it) but at the time i tried steel wool and gave up. The experience has led me to buy enamel coated iron instead

This is a very insightful explanation, thank you
Any leftist who doesn’t vote against a facist far-right candidate like Trump is pretty shit at being a leftist.
