Everything would get overrun by fake users and no one would feel like they’re really interacting with real people -even if they are- because all the trust would be gone. It’s just not worth it.

World News@lemmy.world•Taliban suspends chess in Afghanistan over gambling concernsEnglish
5·9 months ago“No, we’re proud to have a zero tolerance policy at this school. That means we don’t have to investigate if a game involves gambling or if fights are truly fights rather than attacks. Everyone is punished equally. It’s very fair.”

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•The mods are asleep, post wide office chairs!
5·10 months agoI like to put my legs on the arm rests. Sometimes if I’m sitting “normally” (not fully sideways) I put just one leg up.

[Moved to Piefed] Television@lemm.ee•Trump orders Corporation for Public Broadcasting to end federal funding for NPR and PBSEnglish
38·10 months agoNo. I think almost all of his executive orders have been things only congress does. No one is really stopping him from pumping hundreds of them out whether or not they’re even allowed to work. Also, he’s trying to pressure a private company through executive order in this case. They can say “fuck no.” And they should say “fuck no.”
Bunnicula got him.
I’ve seen ones that were custom painted and they look significantly better. It doesn’t stop them from being dumpsters on wheels, but at least they look finished.

politics @lemmy.world•RFK Jr. set to launch disease registry tracking autistic people
19·10 months agoThey don’t even have to kill anyone on purpose. They just have to force people to undergo experimental autism cures, which have historically killed patients. An example of this would be chelation therapy, aka using the medication used to remove heavy metals from the body under the (unconfirmed) assumption that autism is caused by heavy metals.
If a database is good enough to connect pharmacy records, medical records, and even health info from smart watches (which a doctor or insurance company would not have access to) then it would need to link patient info together in a way that’s not as anonymous as they claim it to be. Theoretically, this could be enough information to force someone into doing these experimental treatments in order to keep their driver’s license (even if they’re otherwise high functioning enough to not be hospitalized) or force someone to be hospitalized with promises of being taught to be more independent later down the line.
A company’s phone bot actually able to answer my questions properly? I’ve never seen it happen. You gotta scream the word “representative” multiple times or else it would put you through loops of utter nonsense. You can’t say it at a polite volume or else it will ignore it. You can’t just say it once because it will “argue” with you that it knows how to do things faster, which is never really the case.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What were you surprised to learn wasn't actually normal?
2·10 months agoI dream about buildings and city scapes. Everything that happens in the dream can be detailed, but the focus is on the architecture.
If I get drunk, I can picture colors for different instruments. Drums, wind, and string instruments are varying shades of red, yellow and orange depending on pitch. Synthesizers are always cool colors depending on their sound. The more artificial they sound, the further away they are from yellow or red for purple and green synthesizers) Human voices are pink if high pitched and red if low pitched.
