Consumer projectors come with the same “smart” shit as TVs these days. Just don’t connect either to WiFi. Problem solved.

This would’ve worked just a few years back but due to shitty “age verification” laws, even TV manufacturers willl force users to create an account the very least for the TV to even start up.

Audacity was bought by Muse Group and almost immediately implemented a “don’t you rather want to save on our cloud service instead?” pop-up and IIRC telemetry. Tenacity emerged as the most active fork without that shit and they since diverged a lot from Audacity.

OTOH the resources of Muse Group made this huge rewrite possible. The level of pain between using wxWidgets or dismissing pop-ups is higher for wxWidgets for me.

Maybe Tenacity is willing to throw away their homegrown developments to start fresh with the new code base. No idea.

He didn’t. That’s the point. The slop code is a self contained dependency only used for the Linux build and not part of the actual paint.net codebase. His core user group (on Windows) will never get in touch with it.

I think everybody, including him, would prefer if there was a working implementation of Direct2D for Wine.

I think the point is that the developers doesn’t want to actually review the code which they can do with a self contained dependency which they then ship on a “take it or leave it” basis.

I kind of get it and I think it’s a more responsible approach than to vibe code the core engine of their application.
