“The draft resolution is in the negotiation process and it is expected to be tabled at the UN General Assembly for approval soon,” Malaysian News Agency quoted Ibrahim as saying Monday during a session of the Malaysian Parliament.

The purpose of the UN is to bring all countries no matter how evil together. The UN is useful - to the extent is useful at all - because of the larger number of nations that get together in peace to talk. I’m sure China loves this as it helps their efforts to keep Taiwan out. It is recognized as a part of China by almost every country on earth including the US (despite its endless shit stirring on all fronts, all they’re good for nowadays). The ROC, by the way, also claims mainland China and itself to be the same territory, and their constitution reflects that too, what they disagree on is whether they’re the legitimate government of all of China or the PRC is.

The USA doesn’t officially recognize the ROC but it is US law that consular, travel and business relations between them. Nancy Pelosi travelled to Tawain only a couple years ago.
Anyway, the rights for all people to self-govern themselves should come first over all that.
