So does putting bike lanes in the middle of the road, actually show improvements? I know where I live, mother fuckers use turn lanes as passing lanes, so they would easily use these as well….
Declaring space for bikes is a start, but until there’s a real barrier to protect cyclists (and even pedestrians) it’s just a suggestion that drivers don’t run you down.

The road is now one way and the bike lane goes against the one way flow.
Still not great, but a slight improvement.
