The heron I see every day at the same spot in my frequent searches for an elusive kingfisher. Nothing special about this picture, but I like how the back plumage stands out.

    It’s a beautiful photo! I see a great blue heron frequently near my apartment, but I never am able to get such a detailed picture.

      It was really close, to take that profile full-figure shot I had to back up to the side several meters and hold the camera as low as possible in the ditch. That is taken at 400mm.
