Glad they’re going through europe again, i think europe-asia or europe-africa gives a more interesting journey than staying in one continent

4·28 days agoI like them. It makes me think that there’s at least one person, the message writer, who genuinely wants the best for everyome passing by the board
I think in some contexts/when i was a teenager I wouldn’t like them. It triggers a " don’t tell me what to do!" Or “you don’t know a thing about my problems” reaction

Votes are public (on your instance) but this isn’t reddit, so I just downvote things to indicate when incorrect information or bad attitude is on them (and people do the same to me and that’s fine). I suppose things are different on piefed, which has some psuedo-karma system, but that’s the outlier.
A large benefit of lemmy in general is that we can vote without it being a kick in the balls to someone’s experience on the site. Because no karma system.
He’s saying “ummmm” because we actually already do that. Fun fact :).
And we use different colours for each note.
But BTW, why the hostility to our… currency? Are you like a very patriotic IRS agent or something? Our currency isn’t any more broken or extra forgeable than any other country’s. I think you’ve extrapolated too much from seeing people bring up the occurence of forgeries on this one post.
If what you need is a template for content structure, there’s a bunch of examples on youtube and in articles for how you could write it.
If what you need is a template for appearance rather than content order, i actually haven’t gotten around to that myself. I had heard you can just make it minimal (which maybe helps with AI screening…?) And I heard all the fancy designs are behind paywalls/free trials, but microsoft word has a bunch of them and I’ve played around with those.
If it’s advise for content structure: I can (in the morning) DM you an example of my latest CV with identifying details removed if that’s helpful - I only have student experience and it hasn’t gotten me into any jobs yet but careers advisors have said it’s okay/good and guided me towards the structure i currently use. I have 2 versions: a shorter one for applying to general part time work, and a longer one (citing uni projects) for applying to internships.
Maybe other lemmy users with more professional experience than me could do the same thing. Helps to see what other people have made.

UK Nature and Environment@feddit.uk•Greedy Wallington beaver caught in trap twice as he snackedEnglish
2·1 month agoNational Trust rangers spent two months trying to capture the family of beavers at Wallington, in Northumberland, using tasty fruit and veg to lure them into a humane trap.
But after being caught and found to be in good health, the father of the family was captured again when he returned for more snacks.

Casual UK@feddit.uk•Shower thought: If we hadn't introduced grey squirrels to this country we wouldn't have to faff about with squirrel proof bird feedersEnglish
4·2 months agoApparently red squirrels spread out more and are more competetive with one another, and also have a much more limited selection of foods. That’s what i was thinking of. This is one of the reasons greys are considered so bad - they out a lot more strain on the environment compared to their red counterparts.

UK Nature and Environment@feddit.uk•Analysis finds urban areas in England where no one lives within 15-minute walk of natureEnglish
1·2 months agoSounds like their fix is ‘tear down some buildings to put more parks in towns’ but it is also solved by introducing more trams, metro trains, and better bus services, allowing people to travel to nature spots. And also mitigating the huge lack of mobility people face in english towns.

2·2 months agoWait do you mean you’re avoiding getting allergy tests because they’ve made it hard to do so?
Go and get them. Yes you might have to talk to a GP but it’ll be a short conversation and you just have to fight (i.e sit through jt and keep on making appointments) for your right to health care
Please get those allergy tests if you haven’t already! I was in your shoes once

Not on PC, but on my tablet I just use the youtube app and i haven’t been bothered to look into adblocks on the app. You have to use browser to adblock, right?
