Open Source@lemmy.ml•Visual Studio Code alternatives for Linux?English
4·2 years agoI am aware of this one, but it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I think I’ll start using Kate, and contribute whatever features I’m missing if I can.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is your opinion of online moderators? Do you think of them as an ally or an adversary?English
3·2 years agoExactly. I’m a mod in a few subreddits, the biggest of which is /r/Showerthoughts. People don’t notice our existence unless we interact with them directly, and you rarely interact with users unless to ban them or to remove their content. So it is expected to be hated.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What habits or practies have you adopted from cultures besides your own?
3·2 years agoIt is common in the middle east, with some leeway. Like if someone is sitting diagonal to you such that your foot isn’t directly facing them, it’s okay. Unless its a professional meeting, then having your foot up is just disrespectful, but I imagine that goes for most countries.

Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit Gives Final Warning to Subreddits Using NSFW Protest TacticEnglish
1·2 years agoI mean sure posts about Reddit makes us seem like the bitter ex, but they are to be expected, since it’s the only thing all Lemmy users have in common: Being ex-Redditors. It will stop naturally with time.

1·4 years agoJust five? I’m pretty sure the NSA had access to all their messages since at least 2001.

World News@lemmy.ml•[Meta] Could be please not transform this community into another shithole for Usonian news?
0·4 years agoI agree, but that is very subjective, don’t you think? I’m interested for example in the post that said Trump is suing Twitter. I won’t waste time reading the article most probably, but the news is amusing nonetheless. So what decides whether something is interesting enough to the whole globe or not?

World News@lemmy.ml•[Meta] Could be please not transform this community into another shithole for Usonian news?
0·4 years agoImho, as long as the title isn’t clickbaity, its okay. We shouldn’t reach a stage where “Trump should be impeached” is an acceptable headline, like /r/politics
Why is this a line graph? What’s on the X axis?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What funny or memes oriented or generally interesting sublemmy community would you recommend?
0·4 years agoJoin us at /c/memes! The thing with Lemmy is that it is still very young. So if you see a community not getting enough attention, post there yourself. When you and I start posting, and people start seeing more content, they will start posting as well.

Hmm, interesting. Where are you from?
