Let’s see what Jesus said about heaven in Matthew 13:

The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.

It’s a metaphor where believers are the wheat and nonbelievers are the weeds. Both are allowed to grow, but only the wheat goes back to the farmer.

Later in the chapter, Jesus explains it explicitly:

40 “As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.

He tells a similar parable with fish instead of crops:

47 “Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish. 48 When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away. 49 This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous 50 and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Christian “love” hinges on threat of eternal punishment.

Then there are parables he doesn’t explain:

In Matthew 6, he emphasizes that you’ll have eternal treasures in heaven:

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

I was raised south baptist. We sang “father Abraham… had many sons… Many sons had father Abraham…”

More recently I read some of Genesis for myself. Father Abraham’s wife could not conceive, so he raped her slave instead. The slave ran away. God sent an angel to tell the slave to return to Abraham and have his rape baby, which she did.

I also like how Jesus has two different lineages depending on which gospel you read. Apologists try to say one of them is about Mary’s parents and not Joseph’s, but the text is explicit.

Matthew 1: “Jacob begot Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus…”

Luke 3: “Jesus himself was about thirty years old when he began his ministry. He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, the son of Heli.”

So was Joseph’s father Jacob, or Heli?

There are many more. The bible is literally unbelievable. Chapter 2 lists a different creation order from chapter 1. Anyone claiming it contains no contradictions is drinking the kool-aid. It would be funny if people weren’t dying for it.

Platforms like twitter and facebook (and many “news” companies) brainwash their users, mostly by providing multiple different lies. Users pick whichever lie appeals to them the most, and they pretend they have found the truth.

To combat this, we need to emphasize the importance of thinking critically and verifying claims.

State the facts. Correct their misconceptions. Emphasize that billionaires are intentionally killing us all; lazy thinkers might reconsider if there is a possibility their life is at stake. I’m not saying threaten them, but we are all threatened by human greed.

The people you’re talking to might not listen, but someone else might. Sometimes it just takes repetition to get through to someone, hearing the same clear message from multiple different sources.

LLMs can sometimes be useful. AI does not yet exist. It’s a scam.

If there’s a difference between 10000 monkeys hacking on a typewriter and a human writing their doctoral thesis, the quality of their act isn’t in whether text was generated but WHAT text was generated.

You don’t understand the metaphor. It’s about the nature of infinity, not the competency of monkeys as authors.

If you run an AI prompt infinite times, it will inevitably generate a correct answer somewhere in there. The rest of the time, it will be wrong, potentially with lethal consequences.

It can’t reason. It doesn’t think. It makes shit up as it was trained to do. It can sort of detect patterns and make a guess about what response would get it the highest score, but it’s so error-prone that a human has to verify the output anyway. It’s difficult to tell whether the perceived benefits outweigh the costs. There are many different types of LLMs and use cases.

As a person who values life and our environment, I’d rather not participate in the sloppification of our world. As a Linux user, I am wary of vibe coded flaws slipping under the radar and screwing up my system.
