I think that we get stuck too much on how it works. We need to step back and ask ourselves what we are trying to explain.
The goal here is to have them try out a new social media. The media looks, feels and behaves like twitter. So the only explanation needed is “it’s like twitter”
You can then add what differentiate it from twitter “it’s open source” “it’s not controlled by big tech” “there are no ads” “it’s good a blocking nazi content (ymmv)”
IMHO advertising the decentralized “like email” nature of mastodon as a starting point is counter productive.

Won’t that cause true economic chaos? There already is more music than one can listen to in their lifetime. You’ll never have to listen to the same track again if you chose so. That is true before AI comes in. So how to you chose what to listen to? Where do you put value in music?
AI is just going to devalue music and art in general. Flood these industries in a race to the bottom.

I have created a machine
It can know all your secrets
I will sell your own secrets back to you
Because I own my machine and it now owns you too
And monsters aren’t part of a mon ? Is that what they are hiding under Olympus Mons?

This makes me very confused because I believe there was nothing stateless about the USSR, even early on following the October revolution. The red army, the new economic policies, the food seizures, forced conscription, the supremacy of the politburo… weren’t they literally banning strikes in factories by claiming all the social issues had been resolved through the soviets, when it wasn’t the case at all (the small bourgeoisie/managers came back and we’re still somewhat in charge)? When I look at it, the power of the Soviet state was omnipresent. But maybe I’m not knowledgeable enough?

That’s an anarchist society

The real pro tip is always in the comments: bring your dog on a hike for impromptu bbq

Well, cars suck and 1million would be nice but still won’t but me a home where I live.

Well they could do it the right way where, for example, you go to your city hall to get a certificate of age where they check your ID. Then some cryptography happens so you only enter a public key from that certificate on a website or OS to verify your age.
The website or OS doesn’t check your ID. City hall doesn’t know your browsing history.
But I’m not fooling myself, that’s not the point of such a law.

What is this argument? You and I both know they want this age verification at the OS level for personal computing devices: phones, tablets and computers, maybe watches.
Is this really what’s going to kill this law? Semantics?
The imperial valley is not in the Empire State… where do they grow imperialism?

I mean we’re not going to explain bottom shaming to the Turkish military but the bottom does not have to be sub. Dom bottom is absolutely a thing.

Typical Saturday with the boys

Oh thank you for the heads up! I might add money myself for this.
“ Also, how about paying more for oil since we’re bombing Iran? It’s made in the US!
“ NOOOO!!

More like Nuxli. Sounds like a cereal brand.
Well, I just wanted to say,
