Final (?) Debate thread before the election in 35 days.
Debate begins at 9 PM Eastern, 6 PM Pacific and runs 90 minutes.
Vice Presidential debates are always tricky since nobody has voted for Vice President in living memory.
Expect Vance to attack Walz on his military service.
Expect Walz to attack Vance on the whole “immigrants eating cats and dogs” thing.
Expect Vance to attack Walz on being an assistant coach, at best.
Expect Walz to roll out “Weird!” at least once.
CBS has announced the burden of fact checking will be on the candidates themselves.

Edit Impressive how a debate can go when one participant doesn’t have mental health issues! Thanks for coming everybody!
OMG. Walz just fumbled.
He answered the question and she wasn’t listening.
At the end he kind of did, but his answer, which took like a minute, didn’t.
How?
He didn’t have a polished, clear, and coherent answer to why he wasn’t clear about being in China during Tiananmen square. I find it hard to believe he misrememberedv whether he was there for an event like that. And by missing it, he kept having “china” and his face articulated together again and again, and then he looked like a deer in the headlights when he was once again asked about the date confusion.
That mildly alarmed-freeze thing he does regularly doesn’t play well in these debates more generally, not just here, but in general.
Fair but that doesn’t seem like a fumble. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Well, that’s good, and I mean that, but that clip is literally already on social media. For many people, that might be the extent of the actual debate they see with maybe some short polished clips from Vance.
It wasn’t a fumble in a debate on substantive issues, but that’s not what this is. This is a social-media campaign clip farm. In those terms, it was a short, awkward, flustered, and blustery response that will play perfectly in the current social media landscape.
Well I hope people realize that they are human.
By going off on a tangent when he should have answered the question properly.
Yeah that was rough. I wish he just answered the question the first time.
