It’s a good thing because people tried to use it for moderation decisions like Reddit, but it’s even more of a useless riggable metric on Lemmy. So the community decided we’re better off without it.

Agreed. A karma total is a negative part of Reddit, and caused people to seek bigger number even harder than they already do.
