I’m a terrible sleeper. Like disaster zone level. I’m nearing the end of “Project Hail Mary” which is perfect for me; Very easy to get into, engaging story, not engaging to the point you wont fall asleep (mostly and I’m OK with the “mostly” bits).

Ones I’ve read and felt were similarly good for sleep:

  • A Gentleman in Moscow
  • Three Body Problem #1
  • All of Ted Chiang’s stuff
  • Murderbot (got bored with this a few books in)
  • Recursion
  • Artemis

I’m trying to choose from one of these and could use a recommendation, specifically with sleep in mind:

  • Red Rising (Pierce Brown)
  • Old Man’s War (John Scalzi)
  • My Friends (Frederik Backman)
  • Wild Dark Shore (Charlotte McConaghy)
  • The Will of the Many (James Islington)

Any other recommendations gladly accepted.

Good question. Reading to fall asleep. Kindle in “dark mode”. Nom nom nom. I’ll typically wake at least once a night also and it helps me to doze off again and stops me from picking up the phone to doomscroll until the morning.

I use audiobooks for commute / chores but wouldn’t be into them for bedtime tbh.

Ok, then I don’t have any input. I used to use audio books to fall asleep and found certain narrators were better than others.
