Sounds like a fair increase, though there probably should have been yearly COLA instead of one big one.

Yes, I’m not opposed to these positions having decent pay. Otherwise only the independently wealthy will run for office.
That being said the mayor’s salary does not need to be that high especially considering they get the option for free housing. Which is most people’s biggest monthly expense. The mayor should make the same as the council members.
Same. I’m in favor of significantly increasing politicians’ salary in many places. If the salary isn’t reasonable, the wealthy and corrupt are more likely to take the position.
I don’t have any opinion on what the NYC salaries should be, since I don’t live there and don’t have a feel for salary bands there.
probably felt like a bribe. money grubber are going to hate this move, because it might set a precedent and expectations.
It was a standard inflation raise that applied to a bunch of stuff since the position had the same pay for years.
And rejecting it sets the precedent that he feels he doesn’t deserve a raise.
