(Shamelessly stealing this image from some crackpot carnivore diet community elsewhere on the lemmyverse, with which I have never once interacted, but noticed I have been banned from. Lulz.)

The script can very easily be flipped, OP. “If you like plants so much why are you trying to make it imitate meat?”

This is the flip. Meat eaters say this to vegans all the time. That’s the whole joke.

And vegans need to stop calling people who consume meat “meat eaters.” I have no problem with a salad and some veggies BECAUSE I’M AN OMNIVORE. (as are all you vegans because you are human and that’s LITERALLY what we are).

We didn’t become the dominant species on this planet by hunting carrots. We are predators. Get over yourself.

They have multiple points, but a big one is that you can live a happy healthy life without eating animals or animal products, therefore eating those is optional.

and my point is that being nutritionally complete is easier if you consume animal proteins. Vegans are playing on hardmode by choice and think that makes them special. IMHO they are right; “special” enough to warrant their own bus. Don’t anthropomorphize your food. Chickens are IDIOTS who will cannibalize each other without a second thought, Pigs may be “smart” but are clueless (and also will cannibalize each other like chickens), and cattle are absolute MORONS. In fact the only reason we eat the animals that we do is because their ancestors were too mentally vaccuous to avoid humans altogether. (like say, MOST OF THE AFRICAN MEGA FAUNA which evolved with us and so are wise to our BS.)

Everything you’re saying basically just boils down to, “I have no idea what it’s actually like to go vegan so I’m just going to make stuff up.” Maybe you should try it, at least for a month, if for no other reason than being able to say you can speak from experience.

You’re kind of aggressive, aren’t you? Anyway, I’m not vegan, I just don’t eat animal based stuff.

I don’t see anything factually wrong in your points, except one note

and my point is that being nutritionally complete is easier if you consume animal proteins.

Correct, but if you do your own cooking already then it’s not actually hard to to just sub out one source of protein for another. Throw in some vitamins and you’re good.

For me that’s a very worthwhile trade for reducing my reliance on animal agriculture.

Short answer: for the noobs. Most vegans grow to increasingly prefer more plant-forward meals. The humble bean is by far the most underappreciated ingredient out there.
