The smell makes me violent though. I’ve got nothing against cannabis. I like to have some edibles now and then, but I hate the smell when it’s smoked. Thankfully, my friends are pretty understanding and if they want to smoke, the go outside.

One jackass in university blew it right in my face though.

Oh man, are we back to Reefer Madness? I guess everything old is new again. And now I’m hungry for a fried egg.

Good ol reefer madness. We had a refer madness party at my place with about 20 people in the early 70’s. My dad (silent generation, wwii etc) came down and it was hilarious, bottles and doobies disappeared faster than the speed of light in hiding spots. We told him weed smell was American Cigs. He looks at the TV and says you’re watching that documentary. I thought we were all gonna die, trying to contain the laughter.

This. My dad is also Silent Generation and my sister and I discovered one day in the 70s whilst snooping that my parents were hiding their weed from us.

e: oh, also if you could ‘fool’ a wwii vet/survivor during the 70s by saying a weed smell was ‘American cigarettes’, he was definitely ‘fooling’ you. XD

Silent Generation people had incredibly good poker faces, if I recall correctly. Like, “find out their actual opinion ten years after they died and understand the humour” good.

"Of the 63 studies in the review, 46 were cross-sectional, meaning they measured cannabis use and violence at one point in time. This makes it difficult to tell whether cannabis use came before the violence, followed it, or simply occurred alongside other circumstances that contributed to it. These studies found the strongest link between cannabis use and violence.

Studies that follow people over time – called longitudinal studies – can help establish which came first. These studies found a much weaker link between cannabis use and violence than the cross-sectional studies."

Rest of the article goes on, but this is about the quality of research I’d expect from a Catholic associate college to a conservative university. Wonder what motivated this review.

This study sounds like somebody found out that drug dealers smoke weed sometimes and then just ran with that data as far as they could

Sorry but you’d have to be a nincompoop little weiner if you ever thought otherwise. This is actual, literal common knowledge.

It’s certainly news to me. You mean the headline, or the conclusion of the survey it is referencing?

The only violence related to weed is when the couch starts absorbing you and the line where you end and the couch begins starts to blur.

10 years ago in San Diego I bought ( at my dispensary ) a 1000mg cookie … White chocolate macadamia nut. It was really tasty and I learned the lesson of couch locked. My bud came over and wanted to play games … I couldn’t even turn my own system on. Don’t remember the rest of the day.

That was my experience years ago. That said I haven’t a clue if that’s true for everyone. I know I’ve seen studies claim that people with bipolar disorders may experience breaks/episodes, which I would be interested in seeing more information to prove whether or not that is grounded in anything real.

There really needs to be a fair way to measure and assess “highness”, actual impairment, at the scene. I’m sure lots of people will think I’m advocating for intoxicated driving, but I’m not. When you are a daily user, at least in my experience, your tolerance becomes such that it’s actually pretty difficult to get the high people without a tolerance get.

Which is why I understand people with low tolerance taking a few hits of modern SuperPot, going absolutely to the moon, and wondering HOW THE FUCK anyone operates a motor vehicle in that state. Unfortunately, I don’t have the pleasure of getting that high anymore, and I certainly wouldn’t drive if I was so stoned the frozen pizza was burnt in the oven and the ice cream was melted on the counter.

Unfortunately, with what we have for spot checking cannabis intoxication, anyone in my situation will pretty much always pop hot. I have a “medical” excuse, Crohn’s, but if I didn’t and the laws were the same I’d probably still smoke an Oz a week. Lots of people do, for better or worse.

I love driving, take it more seriously than anybody texting while they drive, can and enjoy operating heavy trucks, but can’t because I piss hot. But Jim, who got fucking loaded last night and still stinks like booze, can hop right up in the cab and CDL his way down the road.

Your comment didn’t deserve my diatribe, my apologies. It’s been a long week.
