Taking in the fact that late 30s is already considered old in boxing years, an almost 60 year old former champ losing to a young opponent with decent experience should start to make sense.
Yeah, he “won” against Tyson.
Tyson looked old and weak, legs were not with him… Paul didn’t even go full ham, Tyson barely threw punches, and you could tell it wasn’t full effort for either fighter.
Tyson looked good the first 2 rounds. By the 3rd he was drained, looked like an old man, legs failed him, he was bobblin around in there while Jake threw jabs from distance and landed more shots. Went to the judges.
I didn’t watch the whole thing but Paul’s shots didn’t even seem like they had any power behind them. He won on points obviously because Tyson was drained but it felt like even old man Tyson could have just stood there and tanked those weak-ass punches.
Disclaimer: all I know about boxing I learned from Rocky movies.
That first punch that landed on Paul’s face made him stop dancing around like an idiot… but yeah after 2 rounds it became just a war of attrition, where Tyson’s knees (which apparently were in a brace outside of the fight itself) just couldn’t hold up and let him close the gap and deliver any of his admittedly still-fierce punches.
Haven’t watched it, but did he seriously win? That doesn’t compute for me.

Tyson was throwing up blood on a plane a few months ago, he just did this for the money.

Knees weak, throwing up blood on his flight already, mom’s spaghetti.

The age advantage alone is huge.
