"In March, for instance, Accurso posted a video of two children watching a Ms. Rachel video amid rubble. The caption read: “My friends Celine and Silia in what used to be their home in Gaza. They deserve to live in a warm, safe home again.”

On Monday, Accurso posted to her Instagram account photos of a meeting she said she had last week with Rahaf, a 3-year-old girl from Gaza who lost her legs in an airstrike, and the child’s mother. The meeting was arranged through the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund."

But Accurso’s advocacy on behalf of Gazan children has led some supporters of Israel to accuse her of treating Palestinian children with more sympathy than Israeli ones, including those abducted in Hamas’s attack of Oct. 7, 2023.

Maybe because there’s like 100x more Gazan children who have been injured and killed, and it is on-going, so focusing on the overwhelming majority is the logical thing to do here?

Accurso “posted nearly 50 times about the children of Gaza, most of which is filled with misinformation from Hamas, and only 5 times about Israeli children,”

So she actually posted disproportionately more about Israeli children, relative to the number of victims.

Last month, the advocacy group StopAntisemitism labeled Accurso the “Antisemite of the Week”

See my previous comment. These fucking clowns will bitch about anything and everything won’t they? Victim complex much? Help, we only have bipartisan support from the U.S. government, but that’s not enough! How dare private citizens not suck us off?

StopAntisemitism tracks the statements of public figures for antisemitism under a polarizing definition that can include undermining Israel’s right to exist or comparing Israeli policy to Nazi policy.

Antisemitism is about people. I do not acknowledge any inclusion of the state of Israel in the definition of antisemitism and will simply ignore any attempt by anyone to include it.

    “Antisemite of the week”

Absurd. This just goes to show how hateful the Zionists are. They will call someone, who is trying to use their platform to bring more attention to the suffering children of Gaza, an antisemite. Fuck them. Hopefully they will all get what they deserve ☺️ Seriously, absolutely zero compassion for them. It should be universal to support children, especially those who are being starved, maimed and killed. Fuck Israel. From the river to the fucking sea!

Maybe toddlers whose home is rubble need a little mental escape into a Ms. Rachel video. Mr Rogers would be better, but it’s not like they can go to a nice park.

There are people in Gaza who speak English and want their kids to learn it. Also, subtitles or closed captions is a good first step in teaching toddlers to read.

Yes to the English. But toddlers can’t read yet, so subtitles won’t be useful unless an adult is also reading or explaining them — just watching TV, even with subtitles, is not enough for language development in toddlers.

As in the image, the parents are right there, kids on their laps in the rubble. And for wee toddlers, it’s not that anyone expects them to read all or any of the words in the dialogue. It’s making the initial connection between the spoken (or sung) words and those groups of letters on the screen. A little further along it’s associating the sounds of the letters rather than just their names.

And then they’ll start to recognize the basic sight words, even when they’re not phonetic. Similar to reading a book along with a preschooler and having them do all the "the"s as you point to them.

Did you eat paint chips when you were young or something?

You do realize it is the parents who are choosing the videos for their children to watch, right?
