I like the implication that two people bumping into each other is considered a traffic accident.

I’d love to see that normalised to how many of each vehicle type are in use aver the same time.

Initially, I see that and think trucks are less deadly than cars, but according to my brief Google search (https://www.statistiques.developpement-durable.gouv.fr/donnees-sur-le-parc-automobile-francais-au-1er-janvier-2024), there are 5x more cars than trucks, which puts them [trucks] over the top of cars in every category.

I guess that doesn’t really matter to the pedestrian. It still sucks to be killed by either.

A better measure is to normalise by kilometres driven rather than number of vehicles.

These are not normalized by amounts of those vehicles in circulation. So it’s essentially incomparable data.

Yeah, how on earth did a vehicle passenger get killed by a pedestrian, and one by a bicycle?

I’m not sure how much I trust this.

Driver hit a pedestrian and an immobile barrier.

Pedestrian survived the car, driver died from what their car hit.

if you hit someone just right, they’ll fly through your windshield and into your face. I think it’s more common when hitting a deer or something, though.

Does the “other” category really just mean blimps? Because I hope it means blimps.

Over the scooters take out all the pedestrians, they will be perfectly safe.
